Senior Director, Product Management - Accounting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Director, Product Management - Accounting based in United States.

This is a high-impact product leadership opportunity focused on redefining accounting technology for a rapidly evolving industry.
You will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a complex accounting platform spanning core financial workflows and integrations.
The role covers areas including accounts payable and receivable, general ledger structures, ERP integrations, and AI-powered accounting experiences.
You will lead and develop a team of senior product managers while setting a high bar for customer value, product rigor, and business impact.
Working closely with engineering, design, finance, go-to-market teams, and customers, you will turn complex financial challenges into scalable solutions.
You will also shape how AI can meaningfully improve accounting workflows while applying strong product judgment about where it adds value.

Accountabilities:

  • Define and own the vision, strategy, and long-term roadmap for the accounting product portfolio, ensuring solutions are scalable across businesses with different levels of financial maturity.
  • Lead the development of modern, AI-enabled accounting capabilities across AP, AR, general ledger, financial visibility, controls, and related workflows.
  • Provide strategic direction and clear communication on product priorities, roadmap decisions, and business objectives to product teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Manage, mentor, and advocate for a team of senior product managers, fostering a culture centered on customer empathy, product rigor, collaboration, and measurable business outcomes.
  • Partner closely with engineering, design, finance, data, and go-to-market teams to simplify complex experiences and deliver cohesive end-to-end products.
  • Engage directly with customers to understand financial challenges, validate product direction, build trusted relationships, and translate insights into product strategy.
  • Oversee complex product areas where architectural and platform decisions have downstream effects across teams, workflows, and third-party integrations.
  • Establish and monitor meaningful product metrics, including adoption, quality, customer sentiment, and financial or business outcomes influenced by accounting capabilities.
  • Identify opportunities where AI can create meaningful improvements in accounting workflows while applying sound judgment around appropriate use cases and product experiences.
  • Requirements:

    • 10+ years of product management experience, including significant leadership experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software environments.
    • Deep accounting domain expertise, with a strong understanding of general ledger structures, accounts payable and receivable workflows, and ERP concepts and integrations.
    • Familiarity with accounting platforms such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, Spectrum, or comparable systems; experience with construction or field-services accounting is a strong advantage.
    • Demonstrated success owning complex, cross-functional product areas involving interconnected systems, integrations, and architectural dependencies.
    • Proven experience leading and developing product management teams, with the ability to coach senior talent, establish high standards, and create strong product cultures.
    • Strong product judgment regarding the practical application of AI, including the ability to identify where AI can deliver meaningful customer value.
    • Exceptional strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence technical and non-technical audiences.
    • Strong customer orientation and experience working directly with customers to understand needs, validate solutions, and build trust.
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience required; an MBA or other graduate degree is a plus.
