Position Purpose
The Senior Donations Driver will drive company trucks and pick up and deliver donated items to locations across the service area, while serving as the primary trainer & mentor for the entire team of drivers. This position requires reporting to work at either Wendover ReStore or Mooresville ReStore, and driving to any or all locations within a service area that encompasses most of Mecklenburg County and southern Iredell County.
Essential Functions
- Assist in the recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding process for new Donations Drivers
- Responsible for initiating and improving the training & development of new hires and current Drivers, enforcing Habitat Charlotte Region standards and procedures such as service levels, communication, safe loading procedures, and phone etiquette
- Observe & conduct driver road test and certification
- Conduct a quarterly review of Donation Drivers/Riders performance and adherence to HCR standards & procedures
- Record & communicate truck maintenance & supply needs with Logistics Manager, ensuring fleet readiness
- Conduct daily communication huddle with Donations Drivers & Riders
- Review daily truck routing to maximize productivity and proficiency
- Ensure all donations are picked up according to issued daily schedules
- Safely navigate from one pickup to another, complying with organizations policy regarding safe and lawful driving standards at all times
- Interact with donors in a courteous and respectful manner to coordinate delivery and pick up and provide them receipt records
- Assess and evaluate all donated items, ensuring they meet the acceptability standards for the ReStores
- Document all rejected items
- Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude when interacting with employees, donors, volunteers, and the public
- Represent Habitat in a positive, professional manner
- Be an effective team member with working with staff
- Consistently provide an exceptional level of both internal and external customer service
- Regular and reliable job attendance including the availabitlity for rotation and on-call schedules
- Maintain full compliance with all applicable DOT, DMV, and FMCSA regulations pertaining to operation of commercial motor vehicles
- Other Habitat Charlotte Region-related tasks as requested by supervisor
