Senior DV Cloud Engineer

Summary

Design and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines for UK Government and Defence projects using AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Terraform.

Salary: £69,000 - 109,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Commercial experience building, deploying, and supporting secure production systems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and/or Azure.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern software delivery practices.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code and infrastructure automation.
  • Knowledge of containers, orchestration, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience working across the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Comfortable working in Agile environments using Scrum or Kanban.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Experience with one or more of the following technologies is beneficial: Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Packer, Vault, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic Stack, Artifactory, Nexus Repository, and serverless architectures.
  • Industry certifications across cloud platforms, Kubernetes, or DevOps tooling are welcomed but not essential.
Responsibilities:
  • Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure and deployment platforms.
  • Develop and manage automated CI/CD pipelines to support rapid and reliable software delivery.
  • Build and operate shared platform services for deployment, monitoring, observability, and operational support.
  • Create and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.
  • Deploy, manage, and optimise solutions across AWS, Azure, and private cloud environments.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, and delivery teams to improve automation, security, and platform reliability.
  • Monitor system health, performance, and availability while proactively identifying opportunities for optimisation.
  • Contribute to DevOps best practices, continuous improvement initiatives, and engineering standards.
