The following are the duties of this position at the full working level. If this vacancy includes more than one grade and you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and receive training to help you grow in this position. Assumes responsibility for the initiation, planning, implementation, control, modification, and execution of all or part of a research project or assignment, including such tasks as specification of the methodology to be used, and preparation of appropriate procedures, specifications, and materials needed for assuring the adequacy of the study's design. Assumes full technical responsibility for interpretation and application of findings. Reviews economic, statistical, and subject-matter literature for data and research methodology appropriate for inclusion in the research, and to evaluate the reasonableness of the APMA, taxpayer, and foreign tax jurisdiction positions. Performs an in-depth review and analysis for reasonableness and accuracy of all material produced for a given study. Research generally involves the use of multiple sources and/or databases. Performs research and analysis of tax issues involving economics, transfer pricing, and valuation related to specific taxpayers or across taxpayers and industries. Resolves very complex problems requiring incumbent's personal in-depth knowledge, originality, and creativity. Performs research and conducts studies on strategic initiatives, such as globalization issues, asset intensity issues, regulation projects, tax shelters, and electronic commerce, as needed. May assist LB&I senior management in determining objectives, scope, and timelines for future initiatives or projects.

During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated. Your supervisor must affirmatively determine that continued employment is in the best interest of the Federal service. Key Eligibility Requirements: U.S Citizenship - Must be a U.S. Citizen or National and provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Selective Service Registration - Males born after December 31, 1959 are required to be registered with the Selective Service System or prove they are exempt from having to do so. Personal Identity Verification (PIV) - Must provide 2 forms of identification from the Form I-9. Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S. These documents must be unexpired original or certified copies.
