Senior Educational Therapist

Summary

Provide one-on-one and small-group therapy for children with learning difficulties, using evidence-based strategies and MOE-aligned instruction to develop literacy, numeracy, and cognitive skills.

We are seeking a dedicated and dynamic Senior Educational Therapist to provide individualized and small-group intervention for children with mild to moderate learning difficulties, specific learning disorders, and/or emotional and behavioral challenges. The role involves delivering holistic support that integrates curriculum instruction, remediation, and cognitive skill development to help each learner reach their full potential.

Job Responsibilities

a) Provide one-to-one or small groups for therapy sessions with mild to moderate learning difficulties, specific learning difficulties and/or children with emotional or behavioral concerns.

b) Teaching in all-inclusive approach which includes curriculum, remediation, and cognitive skills training (e.g., memory, Visual skills and Auditory and listening skills etc).

c) Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify students' learning strengths and challenges.

d) Develop individualized education plans (IEPs) that align with each student’s needs and goals.

e) Use evidence-based strategies to support students with dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning deficits and other learning challenges.

f) Monitor and document student progress, adjusting interventions as necessary to achieve desired outcomes.

g) Ability to arouse and sustain interest /involvement from children through varied activities.

h) Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to student support.

i) Provide guidance and training to educators and parents on effective strategies to support students with learning differences.

j) Ability to participate in and contribute to multi-disciplinary assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation process.

Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology / education (Special Education) or Early Childhood (Special Needs) or related field.
  • Proficient in teaching the MOE Primary and Secondary School curriculum, with familiarity in syllabus requirements and academic expectations.
  • Able to teach multiple core subjects including English, Chinese, Science, and Mathematics, up to the GCE ‘O’ Level standard.
  • Skilled in working with a wide age range of learners, from early years to secondary school level, adapting teaching strategies to suit developmental stages.
  • Trained in specialized literacy and phonics intervention programs, such as the Orton-Gillingham Approach, Lindamood-Bell program, and in numeracy support, including Dyscalculia intervention strategies.
  • Experienced in supporting children with developmental and/or learning difficulties, including Dyslexia, Dyscalculia, Dyspraxia, ADHD, and mild autism spectrum disorder (ASD).
