Job Summary

TYLin is seeking an experienced, design-oriented Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team, contributing to a diverse portfolio of facilities and infrastructure projects.

This role is ideal for an engineer with strong low- and medium-voltage (LV/MV) design experience who enjoys developing practical, technically sound electrical solutions from concept through detailed design and construction. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, take ownership of key design deliverables, and contribute to projects that shape the built environment, with opportunities to expand your technical expertise and grow into a future technical leadership role.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

What You'll Work On

You will contribute to the design and delivery of electrical systems for a diverse range of facilities and infrastructure projects, including commercial, institutional, transportation, industrial, and public-sector environments. You will play an active role in developing practical, reliable, and code-compliant electrical designs, with a strong emphasis on low-voltage (LV) and medium-voltage (MV) power distribution systems.

Your work may include:

  • Building systems and large-scale facilities
  • Transportation facilities, stations, terminals, and maintenance buildings
  • Institutional, commercial, and public-sector facilities
  • New facility design, expansions, and major renovations
  • Electrical infrastructure upgrades and modernization programs
  • Power distribution systems, electrical service upgrades, and equipment installations
  • Emergency power, standby generation, and backup power systems
  • Interior and exterior lighting design and photometric analysis
  • Electrical rooms, switchgear, transformers, and associated infrastructure
  • Multidisciplinary coordination with architectural, structural, mechanical, civil, and other engineering teams

This role offers the opportunity to work on technically challenging projects from early design through construction, developing electrical engineering solutions that balance performance, safety, constructability, and long-term operational requirements.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support the design of electrical systems for new facilities, renovations, expansions, and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Develop detailed low- and medium-voltage electrical designs, including power distribution, service entrance systems, switchgear, transformers, and electrical equipment connections.
  • Prepare and review electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, calculations, equipment schedules, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform electrical load calculations, equipment sizing, voltage drop calculations, and other design analyses to support system selection and performance.
  • Design lighting and emergency lighting systems, including photometric analysis and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Support the design of emergency power, standby generation, UPS, and other critical power systems as required by project needs.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, structural, civil, and other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated, practical solutions.
  • Participate in site assessments, existing-condition investigations, design reviews, and construction-phase activities.
  • Support technical discussions with clients, contractors, equipment suppliers, and other project stakeholders.
  • Apply relevant electrical codes, standards, and best practices throughout the design process.
  • Take ownership of assigned technical deliverables, proactively resolve design challenges, and help maintain quality, schedule, and project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, contributing to the continued development of the electrical engineering team.

What We're Seeking

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent recognized qualification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Strongly demonstrated, relevant electrical engineering design experience.
  • Demonstrated experience designing LV and MV electrical systems for buildings, facilities, infrastructure, or other complex built environments.
  • Strong understanding of electrical power distribution, single-line diagrams, load calculations, equipment selection, and electrical design documentation.
  • Experience developing construction-ready drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical deliverables.
  • Familiarity with emergency power systems, electrical service upgrades, lighting systems, and facility modernization projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and other applicable electrical codes and industry standards.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Experience with AGi32 or comparable lighting design and photometric analysis software.
  • Ability to interpret existing-condition documentation, assess site constraints, and develop practical engineering solutions.
  • Strong technical communication, problem-solving, and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and take accountability for the quality and completeness of design deliverables.

Experience in transportation, institutional, commercial, industrial, or other complex facilities is welcome. Direct rail and transit experience is not essential; we are particularly interested in engineers with strong electrical design fundamentals and the ability to apply them across different facility types.
