Senior Electrical Hardware Engineer
You will join a growing team contributing to the design, development, and testing of cutting-edge electrical hardware for next-generation spacecraft. You'll work closely with experienced engineers across various disciplines to bring innovative satellite systems to life. This role is hybrid, requiring you to be on-site in the San Jose, CA office three days per week.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the design and development of electrical systems for spacecraft avionics, including flight computers, power distribution, guidance and navigation, sensors, actuators, and communication systems
- Perform schematic capture and PCB layout
- Conduct bring-up, testing, and validation of newly designed hardware
- Collaborate with software engineers on the integration and testing of hardware and software components
- Build and test early hardware prototypes to evaluate design concepts and mitigate risks
- Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, systems, and production teams to ensure successful integration and manufacturability of hardware
- Contribute to the creation of design documentation, test procedures, and reports
- Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Mentor other engineers and push the team to new heights in your respective domain
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field preferred but not required
- 5-8 years of experience in hardware engineering, preferably with exposure to electronic systems
- Familiarity with electronic components, circuits, and test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies)
- Expert level knowledge in schematic capture and PCB layout software (e.g., Altium, Cadence/Orcad)
- Understanding of microcontrollers and common communication interfaces (e.g., UART, SPI, I2C, CAN, Ethernet)
- Experience with embedded systems, embedded programming concepts and comfortable in a Linux development environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a hands-on approach to engineering challenges
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A strong desire to learn and contribute in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
