Senior Embedded Drone Firmware Developer
Salary: ฿50,000 – ฿70,000 per month
About the role
At ZONEFLY CO., LTD., we build autonomous UAV platforms and high-reliability aerospace systems. We are seeking 02 Senior Embedded Software Engineers to join our Flight Controller team. In this role, you will be responsible for custom firmware architecture (built upon ArduPilot and proprietary systems), low-level hardware bring-up, sensor drivers, secure communications, and flight control reliability. You will bridge the gap between raw hardware microcontrollers and high-level flight navigation algorithms, ensuring zero-defect performance on real operational hardware.
Key responsibilities
Design, customize, and maintain embedded firmware based on ArduPilot as well as in-house proprietary flight controller frameworks using C/C++
Optimize real-time execution constraints, memory management, and inter-processor communication (IPC) under strict latency requirements
Perform MCU board bring-up for high-performance microcontrollers (STM32F7/H7 series)
Develop and fine-tune low-level drivers for mission-critical sensors: IMU, GNSS, Barometer, Magnetometer, Optical Flow, and LiDAR units
Implement and optimize industrial communication buses and protocols: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN bus, Ethernet, and EtherCAT
Architect and deploy Secure Bootloaders, Firmware-over-the-Air (FOTA) encryption, secure MAVLink communications, and low-level fail-safe logic
Troubleshoot hardware-firmware interface issues using JTAG/SWD, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
Work alongside Flight Control Algorithm Engineers, Hardware/PCB Designers, and System Testers to ensure flawless hardware-software integration
About you
Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Robotics, or a related technical discipline
3+ years of hands-on experience in bare-metal and RTOS embedded firmware development
Strong C/C++ proficiency targeting STM32 microcontrollers (STM32F7/H7 preferred)
Direct, practical experience in modifying, compiling, and deploying ArduPilot or PX4 open-source codebases
Deep understanding of SPI, I2C, UART, CAN bus, FreeRTOS / NuttX, thread synchronization, and real-time execution constraints
Proficiency with Linux-based embedded development environments, GCC toolchains, Git version control, and hardware debugging tools (JTAG/SWD)
Professional working proficiency in English (written and verbal)
Experience with Linux user-space programming or Golang/Python for companion computer interfaces (preferred)
Ability to read electrical schematics and understand PCB designs and component datasheets (preferred)
Background in aerospace, avionics, defense electronics, automotive (AUTOSAR), or autonomous mobile robotics (AMR) (preferred)
About us
At ZONEFLY CO., LTD., we build autonomous UAV platforms and high-reliability aerospace systems. We operate with precision over assumptions—flight firmware leaves no room for errors. We test extensively in simulation and on real hardware, relying on clear logs, telemetry data, and audit trails. We value ownership and technical autonomy, clear and direct communication using data and structured code, and absolute IP and asset protection as we operate in defense and aerospace tech.
How We Work at ZONEFLY CO., LTD.
- Precision Over Assumptions: Flight firmware leaves no room for errors. We test extensively in simulation and on real hardware, relying on clear logs, telemetry data, and audit trails.
- Ownership & Technical Autonomy: You will take full responsibility for your firmware modules—from low-level register configuration to flight testing.
- Clear & Direct Communication: We state problems directly using data, logic analyzer traces, and structured code.
- Absolute IP & Asset Protection: Operating in defense and aerospace tech requires strict adherence to IP security, code protection, and system integrity.
