Senior Embedded Software Engineer

We are seeking for Senior Embedded Software Engineer to establish a new development team within Penang to support existing product development in our company. The team will work closely with an established design team in the UK to develop software for embedded medical devices.

Within this role you will be developing embedded software/firmware for medical electronic devices, where all design and development work must comply with established medical standards. Experience of working in the development of medical devices or other highly regulated industries will be highly advantageous.

Due to interaction with the UK based team, the candidate will be expected to have a good English language proficiency, and must be available to work flexible hours in order to maintain good contact with the UK team.

Key Responsibilities

• Development of embedded software for use in the production and testing of medical electronic devices

• Support the product development in compliance with established medical standards, eg. IEC 60601-1, IEC 62304

• Production of supporting documentation in English required for medical software, eg. Software requirements, Risk assessments, Design documents

• Collaborate effectively with existing teams across the company in order to develop and bring products to market

• Support testing and validation activities with established teams

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, or similar

• 8+ years of professional experience in development of embedded systems

• Strong C language skills, good C++ language skills

• Strong understanding of microcontrollers and electronic design

• Experience in the development of software for highly regulated industries, eg. medical, automotive, aerospace, etc.

• Good knowledge of common protocols and tools

• Experience with version control and review tools, eg. Git

• MUET Band 4.0/CEFR B2 English proficiency

Desirable skills

• Experience with common microcontrollers, eg. STM32, PIC32

• Good problem-solving skills and software debugging skills

• Experience with reading electronic schematics and debugging electronic designs

• Familiarity with Python programming

• Experience in the production of design documentation
