Senior Embedded Software Engineer
Summary
Senior Embedded Software Engineer developing C/C++ firmware for NXP S32K microcontrollers in automotive NOx sensor systems, covering in-vehicle protocols (CAN, J1939, UDS), diagnostics, secure bootloaders, and ASPICE-compliant development processes.
MCT Technic, Türkiye's first and only domestic manufacturer of NOx sensors, operates from its high-tech production facilities located in the Istanbul Specialized Free Zone.
With more than 30 years of experience in the automotive industry, the company is committed to developing environmentally responsible technologies and contributing to a more sustainable future.
Its product portfolio includes high-precision NOx sensors designed to measure nitrogen oxide (NOx) levels in exhaust gases, helping to optimize engine performance and reduce harmful emissions.
If you are passionate about technology, environmentally responsible manufacturing, and the role of software in modern production processes, MCT Technic offers an exciting and innovative working environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain reliable embedded C/C++ software architectures for heavy-duty smart sensor systems on NXP S32K series (S32K1xx / S32K3xx) microcontrollers.
- Establish and maintain requirements-based development and bidirectional traceability across software requirements, architecture/detailed design, implementation, and test, in line with ASPICE.
- End-to-end integration of in-vehicle communication networks and low-level protocols (SAE J1939, UDS, CAN, CAN-FD, LIN, SPI, I²C); communication matrix / DBC management.
- Develop diagnostic software: UDS (ISO 14229) services, J1939 diagnostic messages (DM1/DM2), and OBD emission-monitoring functions.
- Optimize ADC, PWM, timers, watchdog, EEPROM/Flash drivers, and real-time control loops at the hardware level, with awareness of WCET and stack analysis under memory/timing constraints.
- Develop secure bootloader architectures and on-board (OTA / UDS-based) software update mechanisms, including the secure boot chain and key/certificate management.
- Design unit, integration, and software qualification tests; meet code-coverage targets; integrate with in-house HIL test automation.
- Apply secure coding, support TARA inputs, and implement cybersecurity requirements per ISO/SAE 21434.
- Follow configuration/change management and problem-resolution processes; Git-based version control and disciplined code review.
- Support calibration, validation, and end-of-line (EoL) processes in sensor production from the embedded software side.
- Resolve hardware/software integration bottlenecks using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and hardware debuggers (e.g., Lauterbach TRACE32, PEmicro, NXP debug tools).
- Prepare technical documentation in English and contribute to technical communication with OEM/Tier-1 customers.
- Work within an Agile/Scrum framework with sprint-based development and cross-team technical coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, or Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in automotive embedded software development and hardware integration.
- Advanced proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems; bare-metal and/or RTOS-based development and hardware-level debugging with hardware debuggers.
- Deep experience with SAE J1939 / CAN / CAN-FD / UDS protocols; CAN/J1939 traffic analysis and logging.
- Practical experience with MISRA-C and at least one static analysis tool.
- Experience with at least one requirements management and traceability tool (DOORS, Polarion, Jira/R4J, etc.).
- Practical experience with Git and issue-tracking systems; a disciplined code-review habit.
- Familiarity with Automotive SPICE (ASPICE)-based development processes.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum.
- Good command of English for technical documentation and customer communication.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
- ISO 26262 functional safety lifecycle and safety analyses (FMEA/FMEDA) experience.
- ISO/SAE 21434 TARA, and secure bootloader / cryptography (HSM, key management) experience.
- AUTOSAR Classic / MCAL experience on NXP S32K3.
- Domain knowledge of exhaust aftertreatment (SCR, NOx, AdBlue), Euro VI / Euro 7, and OBD / diagnostics.
- Test automation frameworks (Tessy, Cantata, Google Test, etc.) and coverage analysis.
- Python for automation, trace analysis, and tooling.
