Senior Engineer-Commissioning (Malaysia)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with Tier III and IV data centers.
- Background in systems integration and controls commissioning.
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency in data center commissioning.
- Experience working with design-build and fast-track construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage commissioning activities for mechanical, electrical, and controls systems in new and retrofit data center facilities
- Develop detailed commissioning plans, test procedures, checklists, and protocols specific to data center infrastructure including UPS, generators, switchgear, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, fire suppression, and BMS
- Coordinate and oversee Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), Integrated Systems Testing (IST), and Performance Testing
- Collaborate with design engineers, contractors, vendors, and facility operations to ensure commissioning aligns with project scope, schedule, and quality standards
- Review design documents and equipment submittals to verify compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., Uptime Institute Tier certification, ASHRAE, NEC).
- Identify, document, and track commissioning issues, non-conformances, and deficiencies and lead resolution efforts
- Provide technical support during handover to operations teams, including developing operational procedures and training
- Maintain accurate and thorough commissioning documentation, reports, and certifications.
- Mentor and guide junior commissioning engineers and technicians.
- Ensure safety compliance and promote best practices throughout commissioning activities
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering.
- 10 years of commissioning experience in data center or mission-critical environments.
- Strong knowledge of data center mechanical and electrical systems including power distribution, cooling, fire suppression, and building automation.
- Familiarity with industry standards and guidelines including Uptime Institute, ASHRAE, NFPA, NEC, and TIA-942.
- Proven experience in leading commissioning teams and managing complex multi-discipline projects.
- Proficient with commissioning software, project management tools, and reporting.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
- Relevant certifications such as Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP) or equivalent are a plus.
