About the role

As a Senior Engineer, within the Web app team you will at the forefront of innovation, overseeing advanced engineering tasks, leading app development, and guiding best practice. This role requires a deep technical expertise in full Stack development and the ability to innovate and solve intricate technical challenges.

The ideal candidate will excel in both React based front-end and back-end Python API development, with a strong emphasis on building scalable and efficient web applications using service orientated architecture. You will play a crucial part in driving the technical excellence and success of our engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and manage complex software engineering tasks within the Web team, from conception to completion.

• Architect and develop Python RESTful APIs and React/Remix based Websites, promoting re-usable integrations and functionality.

• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues for the NBA Control Tower Portal, developing cohesive and actionable plans to overcome technical challenges.

• Develop and enforce engineering best practices and standards, with a DevOps first mindset, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

• Identify non-functional requirements, promoting good practices in areas such as accessibility, performance, and security, guiding team members in best practice.

• Liaise with product owners to transform visionary ideas to life via innovative technical solutions.

• Collaborate with both technical and non-technical stakeholder teams to ensure project alignment and quality.

Qualifications and skills

Essential

• Proven experience leading a Full Stack development or similar role, demonstrating a strong track record of successful project delivery.

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript, including ES6+ syntax, and its application in modern web development.

• Extensive experience developing dynamic and interactive front-end applications with the React, preferably with the Remix framework.

• Strong proficiency in Python and its usage in RESTful API development.

• Solid knowledge of database systems, including MongoDB and standard SQL.

• Experience with the Azure cloud platform, specifically Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) for container-based application deployment and scalability.

• A strong passion for creating clean, maintainable & highly testable code, with experience in test driven development, covering unit testing with Vitest and Pytest. Exposure to functional testing with Playwright would be beneficial.

• Extensive Experience and comprehensive understanding of modern DevSecOps platform technologies, specifically GitHub version control & CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions, and container deployment to Kubernetes using GitOps via ArgoCD.

• Excellent problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality deliverables.

• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a diverse team environment, technical and non-technical business stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Preferred

• Azure Developer certifications, specifically AZ-204

• Any exposure to Databricks would be desirable.

• Working knowledge of Scrum based Agile development.
