Senior Engineer, Digital Oil Field
Job purpose
Collaborate within a team of technologists to produce enterprise scale solutions for ADNOC Offshore needs based on the latest data technologies that can empower ADNOC offshore people with digital technologies that improve performance, efficiency and profitability.
Key accountabilities
Job specific accountabilities
- Liaise and follow up with ADNOC Offshore on all upstream real-time related solution issues and requirements and identify required corrective actions in coordination and alignment with ADNOC Headquarters.
- Provide specialized technical support in managing, developing, monitoring and delivering complete solutions, covering company-wide real-time data domain scope in coordination and alignment with ADNOC Headquarters.
- Keep updated on the latest technologies, benchmarks and look for solutions and opportunities that better serve the company from the DOF real-time data perspective.
- Prepare and maintain strategic projects scope of work.
- Assist in preparing the business case for new projects.
- Prepare models, proofs of concept and pilots to minimize risk and explore options easily.
- Coordinate strategic projects and manage their implementation.
- Assess, select and implement new technologies such as Big Data throughout the project stages.
- Coordinate and support the delivery and implementation of DOF from assessment to delivery.
- Manage large and complex projects observing company standards, methodologies, processes and tools, delivering in compliance with standards and quality.
- Identify new improvement areas and opportunities, plan necessary assessments and build evolution drafts addressing new proposals.
- Prepare and maintain project, stage and exception plans as required.
- Adopt and apply appropriate technical tools in line with ADNOC Offshore quality and standards.
- Advise stakeholders on the potential of utilizing Digital Oilfields technologies to address and improve the business.
- Work with different disciplines (reservoirs, production, maintenance team etc.) in the development and support for high-level applications platform for reservoir optimization and well surveillance monitoring; support the tendering and implementation process.
- Promote the vision of the Digital Oilfield as an approach to improve reservoir recovery, safe and efficient operation in the company.
- Work closely with various company leaders and subject matter experts to consolidate technical solutions portfolio, plan, implement and execute tasks leading DOF solutions.
- Manage the evolution of solutions by conducting feasibility studies from ideas and concepts to full implementations to improve the company core business.
- Conduct risk assessment and risk management throughout the project life cycle.
- Respond to internal and external changes and highlight their impact on ADNOC Offshore business processes.
- Maintain frequent contact with contractors and vendors.
Generic accountabilities
- Supervision: Plan, supervise and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.
- Budgets: Provide input for preparation of the section and department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver section objectives. Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.
- Policies, systems, processes & procedures: Implement approved section and department policies, processes, systems, standards and procedures in order to support execution of the section’s and department work programs in line with company and international standards.
- Performance management: Contribute to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the section and department in line with the company performance framework.
- Innovation and continuous improvement: Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.
- Health, safety, environment (HSE) and sustainability: Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices and ADNOC code of practices.
- Reports: Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for company management.
Communications & working relationships
Internal: Frequent contact with manager, team members and key stakeholders to gather functional requirements to enhance existing application functionality or introduce new solutions or facility. Frequent contacts with other ADNOC Group entities.
External: Frequent contacts with vendors on a need basis to evaluate solution and product offerings. Frequent contacts with external companies.
Qualifications, experience, knowledge & skills
Minimum qualification
- Bachelor degree in engineering, information technology or other technical disciplines with long exposure to information technology applications in oil and gas engineering, drilling geology and production.
Minimum experience, knowledge & skills
- 8 to 9 years of experience in a similar role with a multinational company, preferably from the oil and gas sector.
- Strong analytical, problem solving and decision making skills with the ability to develop, innovate and think beyond boundaries.
- Good knowledge of various aspects of reservoir monitoring, petroleum engineering, projects, operations and business planning strategy and integrity management.
- Broad experience in IT-OT solution implementation for large scale projects.
- Deep knowledge and hands-on experience in data visualization and analytical tools.
- Deep knowledge in integration of upstream applications and business to propose enhancements or new solutions.
- Detailed knowledge in project management covering requirements documentation, resource selection, planning techniques, change control process, tracking variance, cost and schedule control systems, project reporting and documentation.
- Proficient in English.
Professional certifications
- Business process management certificates are an advantage.
- Project management certificate is an advantage (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2).
