Senior Engineer-Electrical (Malaysia)
Preferred Experience:
- Experience with large-scale colocation, hyperscale, or enterprise data center environments.
- Knowledge of energy-efficient electrical system design and renewable integration (e.g., battery storage, solar).
- Background in electrical system monitoring, SCADA, and Building Management Systems (BMS).
- Prior experience in design-build or integrated project delivery (IPD) environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and oversee the implementation of electrical systems for new builds and retrofit projects, including MV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, backup generators, switchgear, PDUs, and busways.
- Develop and review detailed electrical engineering drawings, one-line diagrams, load calculations, and technical specifications.
- Perform site assessments and capacity planning for power distribution and redundancy.
- Ensure electrical systems meet Tier requirements (e.g., Uptime Institute), NEC, IEEE, NFPA, and local code standards.
- Support and coordinate commissioning activities, including Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
- Collaborate closely with mechanical, architectural, and controls teams for integrated system design.
- Analyse electrical system performance and recommend improvements for energy efficiency and operational reliability.
- Manage electrical design consultants and contractors to ensure compliance with design intent and project timelines.
- Lead or contribute to root cause analysis and remediation of electrical incidents or outages.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership within the engineering team.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- PE (Professional Engineer) license is strongly preferred.
- 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years in data center or mission-critical environments.
- Deep understanding of power distribution, grounding, harmonics, power quality, and fault coordination.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical calculation tools.
- Experience working with electrical infrastructure for Tier II–IV data centers.
- Familiarity with IEEE, NFPA 70 (NEC), ASHRAE, and Uptime Institute standards. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions.
