Job Description\:

As a Senior Stealth Testing and Trials Engineer, you will ensure that our Submarines meet stealth performance targets through noise and vibration measurements across the lifecycle, from prototype testing to in-service support. You will collaborate with stakeholders to influence design decisions, conduct diagnostics and drive continuous improvement.

The role involves mentoring junior engineers, supporting programme delivery and applying innovative approaches in a dynamic environment on one of the UK’s most complex engineering platforms.

Core duties\:

  • You will be helping to ensure that our submarines meet stealth performance goals by carrying out Noise and Vibration measurements (structure borne, Airborne and fluid borne) throughout the submarine lifecycle from equipment prototypes, Factory Acceptance Testing, in build submarine measurements and in service submarine support
  • You will be working closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide relevant noise and vibration data to influence and guide design decisions
  • You will be providing support with developing Junior Engineers in and amongst the team
  • You will undertake a range of equipment condition based monitoring and diagnostics assessments
  • You will play a key role with grasping technical challenges and spotting opportunities for improvement alongside confidently challenging traditional approaches with an innovative mindset
  • You will be positively adapting to change in a dynamic environment

Essential Skills\:

  • You are required to hold a STEM degree in one of the following - science, technology, engineering, or maths
  • You will require proven multi year experience in Noise and vibration measurement/analysis and reporting
  • You will be able to bring proficiency in at least one acquisition software (e.g. Siemens LMS, HBK Connect etc.) HBK (Bruel & kjaer), connect acquisition software – or previous versions of Pulse/labshop
  • You will require an ability to discuss technical findings to stakeholders of various technical backgrounds

The Stealth Engineering Department (NAVED)\:

Here in the team, you will play a key part in conducting stealth assessments from single equipment tests to large-scale transducer measurements during critical commissioning of one of the UK’s most complex platforms. As a senior engineer, you’ll mentor junior and graduate engineers while supporting growing programme demands. We offer relocation support across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
