Job's mission
Want to build the infrastructure behind software that controls real machines?
Join ASM's Software Engineering team in Singapore and help build the development, test, and automation infrastructure used to create software for advanced semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
This role goes beyond traditional cloud DevOps. This role is focused on on-premise servers, physical test systems, networking, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and web-based engineering tools that connect development environments across our products and engineering teams.
Based in Singapore, you will also collaborate across our engineering locations in United States, Europe, and Asia with opportunities for international travel to help build and connect our global DevOps infrastructure.
What you will be working on
- Build, configure, and maintain on-premise hardware and software infrastructure used for software development, integration, and testing.
- Design and improve CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions.
- Automate system setup, builds, deployments, testing, and infrastructure workflows using Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell.
- Develop React-based web applications and engineering tools that provide common infrastructure capabilities across product teams.
- Configure and troubleshoot Linux and Windows systems, networking, storage, operating systems, servers, and development environments.
- Build and support physical development and test environments, including computer hardware, system imaging, equipment interfaces, and simulation environments.
- Collaborate with Software Engineering, QA, IT, Systems, and other engineering teams to improve development and validation workflows.
- Help create standardized engineering infrastructure across products and locations, making development environments easier to deploy, maintain, monitor, and scale.
- Work with engineering teams across United States, Europe, and Asia, including periodic international travel to deploy infrastructure and collaborate with local teams.
What we are looking for
- Minimum Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Hands-on knowledge of Linux and/or Windows systems, including configuration, scripting, troubleshooting, or system administration.
- Programming or automation experience with Python and either Bash or PowerShell.
- Understanding of CI/CD concepts and experience with, or strong interest in learning, GitLab CI, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
- Working knowledge of Git and modern software development practices.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and network troubleshooting.
- Experience developing web applications using React and JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Interest in working with computer hardware and physical infrastructure, not only software or cloud environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability and willingness to collaborate globally and travel periodically between Singapore, Asia, and the United States.
What sets you apart
Experience through professional work, internships, university projects, labs, research, or personal projects involving one or more of:
- Building or administering Linux and Windows servers or workstations.
- Building PCs, servers, home labs, networking environments, or other hands-on hardware projects.
- CI/CD pipelines, automated builds, deployment systems, or test automation.
- Django or other Python-based web application frameworks.
- REST APIs and integration between web applications and backend services.
- Docker, containers, or virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
- Visual Studio, CMake, or building C++-based applications.
- Database design, administration, or integration.
- Infrastructure monitoring, logging, configuration management, or Infrastructure as Code.
- Semiconductor equipment, manufacturing systems, robotics, automation, embedded systems, or laboratory infrastructure.
You don't need to know everything
We are open to candidates at different stages of their careers.
You may already have professional DevOps or infrastructure experience, or you may be a New College Graduate who has built a home lab, configured Linux systems, created CI/CD pipelines, developed React applications, automated environments, or simply has a strong passion for understanding how software, networks, and hardware work together.
We're interested in what you've built, how you solve problems, and your curiosity to go deeper.
Apply today to be part of what’s next.
We make the tech that enables the chips in devices which improve lives around the world. We do this with an eye to the future, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible through cutting-edge innovation, and driving the next wave of technological breakthroughs that shape how we live, work, and connect.
