Description

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for a seasoned Senior Engineer to join our Virtualization team, focused on designing, automating, and operating large-scale VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments integrated with Kubernetes. You will bridge the worlds of traditional virtualization and modern cloud-native orchestration, driving automation-first approaches across our infrastructure stack.

You'll be a key contributor in shaping our platform roadmap, mentoring junior engineers, and collaborating closely with application, security, and DevOps teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, deploy, and manage VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) environments including vSphere, vSAN, NSX-T, and SDDC Manager.
  • Architect and maintain Kubernetes clusters (Tanzu Kubernetes Grid / upstream K8s) on top of VCF, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Build and maintain automation frameworks using VMware Aria Automation (vRA), Orchestrator (vRO), Terraform, and Ansible to provision and manage infrastructure lifecycle.
  • Develop custom vRealize Orchestrator workflows and Action-based extensibility for complex infrastructure operations.
  • Implement GitOps and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices to version-control infrastructure configurations and deployments.
  • Integrate Kubernetes workloads with NSX-T networking, persistent storage (vSAN, NFS), and enterprise security policies.
  • Monitor and optimize platform performance, capacity planning, and SLA adherence across VCF and K8s environments.
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and architecture decision records (ADRs).

GOOD TO HAVE

  • Experience with VMware Aria Operations for Networks (formerly vRNI) for network visibility and troubleshooting.
  • Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, GCP) connected to on-prem VCF.
  • Familiarity with container security tools (Twistlock / Prisma Cloud, OPA/Gatekeeper, image scanning).
  • Knowledge of Service Mesh (Istio, Antrea Service Mesh) for K8s workload connectivity.
  • Experience with VMware Site Recovery Manager (SRM) or Zerto for DR automation.
  • Exposure to GitLab CI/CD or Jenkins pipelines for infrastructure automation.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes Change, Incident, and Problem Management.

EDUCATION & BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related engineering discipline.
  • 36 years of hands-on experience in virtualization, private cloud, or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade Kubernetes and VMware VCF environments.
