Role Summary We are looking for a highly capable Senior Technical Lead who can operate as a hands-on engineer, technical leader, and solution architect.

This is a broad "player-coach" role rather than a narrow people-management position. The successful candidate will independently take ambiguous problems from definition to production, switching as needed between individual contribution, architecture, team leadership, critical troubleshooting, prototyping, and customer-facing technical discussions.

Our core stack includes Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, and Java, with Go, React, and Flutter also in use. Equal expertise across all technologies is not required; strong computer science fundamentals and the ability to become productive quickly across unfamiliar systems are essential.

Key Responsibilities

1. Hands-on Engineering & Complex Problem Solving

Remain hands-on with software development and step into complex or critical engineering problems when required.

Design, review, debug, and optimize production software across backend, frontend, data, integrations, and distributed systems.

2. Solution Architecture & Technical Direction

Own or guide end-to-end solution architecture for complex product and customer requirements, balancing scalability, reliability, security, performance, maintainability, and cost.

Translate ambiguous requirements into clear technical designs and implementation plans, making sound technology, integration, and build-vs-buy decisions.

Lead architecture and design reviews, identify technical risks early, and ensure teams understand key decisions.

3. AI-Native Software Engineering

Use modern AI-assisted development tools to accelerate design, implementation, debugging, testing, documentation, and research.

Apply practical knowledge of LLM applications, agentic workflows, tool calling, retrieval, evaluations, guardrails, and integration patterns such as Model Context Protocol (MCP).

Establish responsible practices for AI-assisted code, including review, testing, security, traceability, and validation. 4. Technical Leadership & Team Enablement

Lead engineering teams when required while remaining capable of contributing directly to implementation.

Break complex initiatives into executable work, set priorities, remove blockers, and drive delivery with appropriate engineering discipline.

Mentor engineers and raise standards through code reviews, architecture discussions, debugging, testing, observability, security, and maintainability.

Create reusable patterns, tools, and reference implementations that increase engineering leverage across the organization. 5. Customer, Delivery & Cross-Functional Leadership

Lead technical discussions with customers and collaborate effectively across product, engineering, QA, data science, manufacturing, deployment, and customer-success teams.

Own outcomes from problem definition through implementation, validation, deployment, and stabilization, including root-cause analysis for critical issues.

Improve engineering velocity through automation, CI/CD, testing strategy, and effective developer tooling while balancing speed with long-term quality.

Required Qualifications Core Engineering

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent strong experience may be considered.

8-12+ years of software engineering experience with substantial hands-on development and technical leadership.

Excellent command of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented and functional programming concepts, concurrency, networking, databases, and software design fundamentals.

Ability to reason clearly about complexity, performance, failure modes, and engineering trade-offs. Software, Architecture & AI

Strong production experience in at least two of Python, Java, and JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to work across a broader technology stack.

Experience designing scalable software using APIs/services, databases, asynchronous or event-driven patterns, cloud infrastructure, and distributed-system concepts.

Strong understanding of architecture, testing, source control, CI/CD, observability, security, and production troubleshooting.

Advanced practical use of AI coding and agentic development tools, with hands-on familiarity with LLM-powered capabilities, retrieval, tool use, evaluation, and safeguards. Leadership & Communication

Proven ability to operate successfully as both a senior individual contributor and a technical/team lead.

High ownership, bias for action, and ability to work independently with incomplete information.

Ability to mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and collaborate constructively across disciplines. Preferred Qualifications

Experience with industrial/manufacturing, IIoT, CNC/CAM, edge, machine-data, or other hardware-connected software systems.

Experience in regulated, security-sensitive, safety-conscious, or mission-critical environments.

Exposure to Go, React, Flutter, real-time/data-intensive systems, streaming architectures, and AWS or similar cloud platforms.

Experience taking products or major platforms from early-stage architecture through production scale in a startup or high-growth environment.
