This position is part of the Environmental & Social Risk Assessment Division, Office of Development Policy (ODP), U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC). As a Senior Environmental & Social Risk Specialist, you will advance responsible development finance by assessing complex global projects, identifying and mitigating environmental and social risks, advising on compliance, and monitoring approved investments across DFC's portfolio.

As a Senior Environmental & Social Risk Specialist, you will: Conduct environmental and social risk assessments for proposed DFC-supported projects across finance, insurance, equity, investment fund, financial services, and financial intermediary transactions. Review prospective and active projects for compliance with DFC environmental and social requirements, IFC Performance Standards, applicable guidelines, legal requirements, and recognized best practices. Identify environmental and social risks, compliance gaps, mitigation measures, corrective actions, and improvements to project risk management plans, policies, and procedures. Prepare clearances, assessments, reports, recommendations, technical study requirements, terms of reference, and environmental and social conditions for DFC agreements. Monitor approved projects through desk reviews, monitoring reports, deliverable tracking, and site visits; identify non-compliance and recommend corrective actions. Communicate technical findings and guidance to DFC leadership, staff, clients, consultants, co-lenders, government agencies, multilateral institutions, NGOs, and other stakeholders; draft briefing materials, Board and Investment Committee sections, guidance notes, training materials, and presentations.
