Senior Environmental Specialist

We are seeking a Senior Environmental Specialist to join our growing team in our Sydney office. In this role, you will contribute to the growth and development of the Environmental Management and Approvals Discipline. Your support of the team and client management is essential.

The role will include:

  • Preparation of environmental impact assessments, approvals and compliance deliverables for various clients and industries for both green field and brown field projects
  • Supporting quality project outcomes for clients that are on budget and aligned with schedule
  • Preparing project proposals that drive innovative, practical and sustainable outcomes for clients
  • Participating in client management and business development.
  • Opportunities for site travel and exposure to private sector, resource industries and government stakeholders.
  • Playing an active role in the wider team through regular meetings, workshops, training and business planning

Ideally, you will have 5-7 years of experience in a similar role within industry, consulting or government with strong knowledge of relevant Australian and NSW legislation. In addition to this, you will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Environmental Engineering, Science
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Commonwealth and State (NSW) environmental legislation and policy, minimum of 2 years’ experience with NSW legislation is essential.
  • Demonstrated competence in environmental impact assessment, risk analysis, and mitigation strategies
  • Ability to interpret and apply environmental data, reports, and technical information
  • Experience preparing, implementing and monitoring environmental management plans during construction and operational phases
  • Ability to conduct on-site environmental inspections and audits to ensure compliance with permits, legislation, and internal policies
  • Experience coordinating with multidiscipline design and construction contractors and site personnel to ensure environmental obligations are understood and implemented
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and presentations
  • Ability to supervise and mentor staff and work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams​
