Senior Executive / Assistant Manager – Strategic Sourcing

Key Responsibilities
- Sourcing
& Supplier Development
- Identify
and develop new suppliers for mechanical components.
- Source
components such as machined parts, sheet metal components, fabricated
parts, castings, forgings, turned components, laser-cut parts, and other
precision mechanical components.
- Evaluate
suppliers based on capability, quality, cost, capacity, and delivery
performance.
- Develop
alternate sources to improve competitiveness and supply continuity.
- Optimising
the Cost, Quality and Delivery.
- Factory
RM Purchase
- Maintain
supplier relationship.
- Costing
& Cost Analysis
- Prepare
should-cost / target-cost estimates for mechanical components.
- Analyse
drawings, BOMs, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to arrive
at component costing.
- Understand
and calculate costs related to:
- Raw
material
- Machining
- Turning
/ milling
- Fabrication
- Sheet
metal processing
- Labour
and overheads
- Benchmark
supplier quotations against calculated costs and negotiate accordingly.
- Identify
cost-reduction opportunities through VA/VE, process optimization,
material alternatives, and supplier development.
- Technical
Evaluation
- Read
and understand 2D mechanical drawings, GD&T, material specifications,
and BOMs.
- Discuss
manufacturing feasibility and costing with suppliers.
- Work
closely with Engineering, Quality, Production, and Design teams for new
component development.
- Evaluate
supplier process capabilities and manufacturing methods.
- Quotation
& Commercial Negotiation
- Obtain
and analyse techno-commercial quotations from suppliers.
- Prepare
comparative statements and negotiate price, tooling, MOQ, payment terms,
lead time, and delivery conditions.
- Ensure
purchases are made at competitive and technically justified prices.
- New
Product / Component Development
- Support
sourcing activities for new products and engineering changes.
- Coordinate
with suppliers for prototype/sample development.
- Track
sample submission, approval, and transition to regular production.
- Cost
Reduction & Continuous Improvement
- Identify
opportunities for annual cost savings.
- Conduct
supplier negotiations based on cost breakdown and market benchmarks.
- Develop
alternate suppliers and alternate manufacturing processes wherever
feasible.
Requirements
Required Experience & Skills
- Mechanical
Engineering graduate with 4 years of experience in Mechanical Sourcing /
Strategic Procurement / Purchase.
- Experience
in sourcing mechanical components from manufacturing suppliers.
- Strong
understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes and raw materials.
- Ability
to work out component costing from drawings and manufacturing processes.
- Good
knowledge of cost estimation / should-costing / target costing.
- Ability
to read and interpret mechanical drawings and BOMs.
- Strong
supplier development and negotiation skills.
- Experience
in identifying alternate suppliers and developing new sources.
- Good
analytical and commercial skills.
- Proficiency
in MS Excel; experience with ERP systems
- Knowledge
of Tamil is must.
