Senior Facade Manager

Job Description:

  • Lead the design and engineering of façade systems for major commercial, residential, hospitality, institutional and mixed-use developments.
  • Manage façade projects from concept design through detailed design, tender, construction and completion.
  • Develop innovative, practical and cost-effective façade design solutions while maintaining architectural intent and performance requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership on curtain wall, glazing, metal cladding, stone cladding, composite cladding, structural glass and other façade systems.
  • Review façade drawings, calculations, specifications, material submissions, shop drawings and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate façade design with architects, structural engineers, MEP consultants, contractors, specialist subcontractors, manufacturers and other stakeholders.
  • Undertake façade inspections, condition assessments, defect investigations, refurbishment and remedial works for existing buildings.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to site teams during construction, including resolving façade design and installation issues.
  • Review construction methodologies and ensure façade works comply with approved designs, relevant standards, specifications and quality requirements.
  • Identify technical and project risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and review façade specifications, performance criteria, tender documentation and procurement requirements.
  • Participate in contractor prequalification, tender evaluation and technical assessment.
  • Develop value engineering and alternative design proposals to optimise cost, constructability, performance and durability.
  • Manage project scope, programme, resources, deliverables and technical quality.
  • Lead, mentor and develop junior façade engineers, designers and technical staff.
  • Maintain and improve façade engineering standards, technical procedures and best practices within the organisation.
  • Support business development activities, including preparing technical proposals, fee submissions, presentations and client meetings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, developers, contractors, suppliers and façade manufacturers.
  • Collaborate with regional and international multidisciplinary teams on complex façade projects.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree in Architecture, Façade Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10–15 years of relevant experience in façade engineering, façade consultancy, architectural design or building envelope design.
  • Proven experience in leading façade design and engineering for large-scale and complex building projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of façade systems, including curtain walls, glazing, aluminium/metal cladding, stone cladding, composite panels and structural glass.
  • Experience in façade refurbishment, defect investigation, remediation and existing-building assessment is an advantage.
  • Good understanding of façade performance, constructability, materials, detailing and installation methodologies.
  • Familiarity with relevant international façade standards, building codes and performance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing technical drawings, calculations, specifications, shop drawings and material submissions.
  • Strong project management and multidisciplinary coordination skills.
  • Experience working with architects, developers, consultants, contractors and specialist façade manufacturers.
  • Good understanding of project commercial aspects, including fee proposals, tendering, procurement, variation management and value engineering.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities, with experience mentoring junior professionals.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Professional registration or membership with a recognised professional institution is preferred.
