Senior FBAR Resonator Engineer
Key Responsibilities
1. Q-Factor Improvement
• Analyze Q-limiting mechanisms in existing FBAR architectures and propose actionable improvement strategies
• Lead implementation of Q-enhancement techniques and structural optimizations
• Drive material and geometry optimization across electrode, piezoelectric, and cavity layers to minimize acoustic loss
2. Structural Design & Validation
• Own resonator design and simulation for FBAR architectures
• Collaborate with process engineering to translate designs into manufacturable flows; plan and execute experimental validation
3. Competitive Analysis & IP Strategy
• Benchmark against leading FBAR products
• Support patent strategy with differentiated design approaches
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Interface with MEMS foundry partners to define process windows for resonator modules
• Establish standardized Q-factor characterization methodologies
Requirements (Must-Have)
1. Education: Master's or PhD in Microelectronics, Materials Science, Applied Physics, or MEMS-related fields
2. Experience: 3+ years hands-on FBAR resonator development, 5+ years strongly preferred. Experience taking designs from concept through volume production is highly valued.
3. Technical Competencies:
• Deep understanding of FBAR operating principles and Q-factor physics
• Hands-on experience with mainstream FBAR architectures
• Knowledge of AlN/ScAlN piezoelectric thin films and their impact on device performance
•Proficiency in COMSOL or equivalent simulation tools; experienced with RF characterization equipment
• Working knowledge of MEMS fabrication processes and ability to correlate process variations with device performance
Nice-to-Have
• Track record of leading Q-factor breakthrough projects at tier-1 companies with patents or technical publications
• Experience with AlScN development or advanced piezoelectric materials
• Team leadership or cross-regional collaboration experience
