Senior Finance Analyst

Location: Dunedin

FTE: 1.0

At WellSouth, we are dedicated to promoting health equity, ensuring everyone has access to the highest quality of care and enabling better health outcomes for people in the Southern region.

Position Purpose:

This critical role within the WellSouth Finance team supports the partnership between Finance and organisational leaders. The Senior Finance Analyst has oversight of contract and revenue management, and delivers accurate, timely reporting to leadership, the Board and external funders.

Acting as the subject matter expert of WellSouth's Contracts Management Portal and the primary point of contact for contract and revenue queries, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy and is expected to demonstrate initiative, sound judgement, and the ability to work under pressure to meet reporting deadlines.

This role supports the CFO and Finance Manager with budgets, forecasts and financial models, and provides subject matter expertise on maintenance, documentation and continuous improvement of WellSouth's finance systems and internal controls.

What are we looking for:

We are looking for an experienced finance professional who can take ownership of contract and revenue management end to end, including invoicing, debtor management, reconciliation of revenue lines against funding contracts, and the monthly reporting that sits on top of it.

You will be comfortable working across multiple systems and stakeholders, partnering with leaders to connect the financial and non-financial and help knit together the story behind the numbers. Experience in financial systems, forecasting and reporting tools will be highly regarded, and experience in the health sector is an advantage rather than a requirement.

About you - To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 5-7 years experience in a senior finance role,
  • Hold a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting, or an equivalent body of knowledge.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to manage complex reconciliations, contract records and month end reporting.
  • Have solid financial systems experience (e.g. Microsoft Dynamics, Xero), with intermediate to advanced Excel and Power BI skills.
  • Bring proven experience preparing monthly financial information and supporting external audit processes.
  • Show a proactive approach to continuous improvement, process development and rigorous financial control.
  • Have excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to influence and provide financial advice to non-financial colleagues.
  • Be self-motivated, organised, and able to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines, particularly around reporting periods.
  • Bring a problem-solving mindset and the financial acumen to look at an issue from a different angle.
  • Share our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity and the wellbeing of our Southern communities.

We offer:

  • A supportive work environment where you will make a real impact on the lives of our diverse communities.
  • Opportunities for personal and professional growth.
  • A commitment to upholding the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • To support the health and wellbeing of our employees we offer a competitive salary, flu vaccinations, an annual wellness voucher and a day off on your birthday.
  • 5 weeks annual leave after two years.
  • Sick leave entitlement of 5 days will be available from commencement of employment and another 5 days at 6 months of employment. 10 days entitlement will be available at 12 months service thereafter.
  • Inhouse equity training, Te Reo training and associated professional development.
  • We are a proud Gold Supporter of the Pride Pledge, demonstrating our commitment to creating safe and inclusive workplaces for rainbow communities.
