Senior Financial Analyst, Startup Sales - AWS APJC Finance
Posted Updated
AWS Finance seeks a Financial Analyst to support the Startup Sales organization in APJ (Asia-Pacific and Japan). This role provides analytical and operational support including financial analysis, metrics reporting, and planning and forecasting. The successful candidate will be analytically strong, detail-oriented, and eager to learn how finance drives business outcomes. They will have a demonstrated ability to deliver clear, accurate analysis and communicate findings effectively to support decision-making.
The candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining the tools, reports, and dashboards necessary to address business opportunities, leveraging AI and agentic tools to accelerate analysis and reporting workflows, performing analyses to measure the effectiveness of business strategies, and supporting the team's planning and forecasting cycles. The role requires a motivated self-starter who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with guidance from senior team members while taking ownership of defined workstreams.
Key job responsibilities
Support business reviews by preparing financial analyses, variance commentary, and supporting materials that promote accountability and high standards.
Develop and improve recurring metrics, KPI tracking, and ad-hoc analyses for the Startup Sales finance team.
Partner with stakeholders across Startup Sales, BD, and Marketing at working levels to gather inputs, validate assumptions, and deliver timely financial insights.
Contribute to planning and forecasting processes — support monthly, quarterly, and annual planning cycles including data gathering, model updates, and scenario analysis.
Leverage AI and automation tools — use generative AI, agentic assistants, and automation solutions to streamline recurring finance tasks such as data extraction, variance analysis, and narrative generation, continuously improving team productivity.
Identify and escalate issues proactively — flag data discrepancies, risks, or emerging trends to senior team members with recommended actions.
Drive process improvements — look for opportunities to automate, simplify, or improve the accuracy of recurring financial processes.
A day in the life
You'll start most mornings reviewing dashboards you own — checking revenue trends, forecast variances, and data anomalies across the APJ Startup portfolio. When something looks off, you dig in with SQL and Excel, then flag findings to your manager with a clear recommendation.
A big part of your week is partnering with Startup Sales and BD leads at the country level — understanding pipeline shifts or new program launches, then translating that into updated forecasts and financial models. You're the person they come to when a number needs validating or a business case needs pressure-testing.
During close and planning cycles, you're hands-on — reconciling data, preparing variance commentary, and building materials that feed into leadership reviews. You won't present to VPs on day one, but your analysis will shape those conversations.
You'll also make time to improve how the team works — automating manual processes with AI tools, building QuickSight dashboards, or writing queries that save hours each month.
Your stakeholders are APJ Startup Sales leaders, BD managers, and Marketing teams. The problems you'll solve range from "why did this country miss forecast?" to "how should we allocate investment across competing priorities?" — always grounded in data, always oriented toward action.
