Senior Financial Planning Analyst

Opportunity Summary
We are seeking a Senior FP&A Analyst to support the financial planning, forecasting, and reporting requirements of a strategic joint venture project within our data center portfolio. This role is ideal for a finance professional with a strong analytical foundation, deep experience in capital-intensive environments, and the ability to operate independently across a broad scope — from JV-level financial reporting and variance analysis to forecasting, budgeting, and cross-functional business partnering.
This is a high-visibility, individual-contributor role with direct exposure to senior leadership and a meaningful opportunity to shape how FP&A supports the reporting requirements of a complex, joint-venture-structured development project. The right candidate brings intellectual curiosity about data center and project finance economics, a bias toward action, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, decision-ready insights. This is an experienced senior hire, not an entry point into FP&A.
Key Responsibilities

  • Own the recurring reporting package delivered to the joint venture partner, ensuring deliverables are accurate, complete, and delivered on the agreed reporting cadence.
  • Prepare project-level and facility-level P&L reporting, including monthly variance analysis, commentary, and distribution to project leadership and the joint venture partner.
  • Support preparation of periodic compliance certificates, financial statements, and other lender- or investor-required deliverables in coordination with Accounting, Treasury, and Corporate Development.
  • Track and reconcile capital contributions, capital accounts, and incentive/promote calculations against the joint venture's return waterfall mechanics.
  • Build and maintain driver-based forecasting models for the project, incorporating construction draw schedules, phased delivery timing, and stabilization assumptions across the development lifecycle.
  • Own preparation of the annual business plan and budget for the project, coordinating inputs with Project Delivery, Operations, and the joint venture partner's asset management team.
  • Monitor actual development costs versus budget, flagging variances and escalating items with a material cost or return impact.
  • Partner with Accounting to ensure accurate treatment of the joint venture's legal entity structure in corporate consolidation, distinguishing consolidation versus equity-method accounting where applicable.
  • Apply and maintain the corporate cost allocation methodology used to determine shared costs attributable to the joint venture, ensuring allocations are well-documented and defensible.
  • Reconcile general ledger data to joint venture and lender reporting outputs, identifying and resolving discrepancies in partnership with Accounting.
  • Serve as the embedded FP&A point of contact for the project, working cross-functionally with Legal, Accounting, Treasury, and Development to support reporting, budgeting, and ad hoc partner requests.
  • Support ad hoc financial analysis and business case development as assigned, including cost-benefit analysis, valuation support, and scenario modeling.
  • Identify and flag data quality issues in source systems and reporting outputs, documenting discrepancies with clear recommendations and following through on resolution with Accounting.
  • Contribute to the documentation of joint venture reporting processes, templates, and standards as this workstream matures.

Specific Skills/Abilities

  • Advanced Excel proficiency including financial modeling, lookup functions (XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH), pivot tables, and multi-source data consolidation; Power Query experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of private equity / joint venture structures — capital contributions, preferred return and profit-split waterfalls, capital account mechanics, and incentive/promote calculations.
  • Comfort translating dense legal and partnership agreement language into repeatable, well-documented finance processes and reporting calendars.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP accounting principles — including accruals, prepaids, depreciation, capitalization policy, and CapEx vs. OpEx classification — with demonstrated ability to apply these concepts in an FP&A context.
  • Ability to manage external-facing, contractually-driven reporting deadlines with precision, escalating risks to timely delivery well in advance.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills — able to synthesize complex, multi-entity financial data into clear, concise variance commentary and executive-ready reporting.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams independently, prioritize effectively under tight deadlines, and escalate issues with clear documentation.
  • Intellectually curious about business operations — able to engage meaningfully with non-finance stakeholders and translate operational realities into financial assumptions.

Skills and Requirements

  • Direct experience in capital-intensive industries — data centers, real estate, energy, infrastructure, or project-based environments — strongly preferred; data center finance experience is a meaningful differentiator.
  • Prior exposure to joint venture, fund, or PE-backed reporting obligations (capital call/distribution tracking, compliance certificates, investor/quarterly reporting) is a meaningful differentiator.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a full reporting cycle: close, variance analysis, commentary, and distribution.
  • Experience building or maintaining project-level, property-level, or site-level P&L models preferred.
  • Prior experience owning a budget or forecasting process for one or more cost centers, not just supporting it.
  • Proficiency with ERP or financial reporting systems; NetSuite experience a plus.

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Real Estate Finance, or related field.
  • 5–7+ years of FP&A, financial analysis, project/real estate finance, or relevant accounting experience — this is an experienced senior hire, not an entry point into FP&A.
  • Experience at a PE-backed, joint-venture-structured, or high-growth company a plus.
