Senior Financial Risk Manager

Brocc is a specialised niche bank embarking on a bold and transformative growth journey, fuelled by strong institutional backing and a clear strategic vision. Positioned at the forefront of the European credit market, Brocc combines deep heritage in consumer finance with cutting-edge technology and expertise in NPL acquisition and restructuring, building a best-in-class debt finance platform that supports clients across the full credit lifecycle.

With substantial capital resources, an ambitious growth agenda, and a collaborative, entrepreneurial culture, Brocc is uniquely placed to shape the future of the credit ecosystem. As we scale across new markets and asset classes, building a robust, forward-looking risk function is central to how we operate, and to how we earn the trust of clients, partners, and supervisors.

Now, we're looking for a Financial Risk Manager to join our growing team within our Group Risk Control Function and take ownership of how we identify, assess, and manage financial risks and play a key role in capital and liquidity planning across the organisation. You will work closely with Treasury, Credit, Finance, and executive management, and present regularly to the Board Risk Committee.

This is a broad, hands-on role in a growing Swedish bank, combining quantitative analysis with regulatory engagement and strategic advisory to the business.

What you'll do

You'll lead the second-line financial risk function, partnering with the business to design and embed a framework that scales with us. In practice, that means:

  • Lead independent identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting of credit, market, and liquidity risks across the balance sheet

  • Maintain and develop the risk appetite framework, limits, and early-warning indicators, escalating breaches and driving remediation

  • Independently validate and challenge risk models built by the first line (PD/LGD/EAD, IFRS 9 ECL, liquidity and IRRBB), and own the model risk management framework

  • Oversee liquidity and funding metrics (LCR, NSFR, survival horizon) and challenge deposit behavioural and funding concentration assumptions

  • Evaluate the risk components of the ICAAP and ILAAP, including internal stress testing, scenario design, and capital and liquidity adequacy

  • Deliver timely, decision-ready reporting that gives the CRO, executive management, and the Board Risk Committee a forward-looking view of market risks

  • Translate regulatory developments (CRR3/CRD VI, BRRD, EBA guidelines, FFFS) into policies, appetite, and methodology

  • Provide second-line challenge on new products, policy changes, business and funding plans, and strategic initiatives

  • Coach other risk analysts and build risk awareness across the organisation as a trusted partner, not a blocker

Who you are

You've built financial risk frameworks in regulated financial institutions and know how to make them practical, not bureaucratic. You're as comfortable challenging a financial risk owner as you are presenting to the Board, and you bring the judgment to know when to push and when to partner.

More specifically, you bring:

  • Several years of experience in financial risk management within a bank, credit institution, or consultancy serving financial institutions

  • MSc in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • Deep knowledge of the EU banking regulatory framework — CRR3/CRD VI, EBA guidelines, and Finansinspektionen's regulations (FFFS)

  • Hands-on experience with ICAAP/ILAAP, stress testing, and regulatory reporting (COREP/FINREP a plus)

  • Strong quantitative and modelling skills, with proficiency in Excel and at least one of Python, R, or SQL

  • Experience with IFRS 9 expected credit loss modelling or credit portfolio analytics is a strong plus

  • The ability to translate complex quantitative results into clear, decision-ready messages for the Board, management, and regulators

  • The independence to provide constructive challenge to the first line and senior management, with high integrity and sound judgment under regulatory scrutiny

  • A pragmatic, hands-on mindset — comfortable in a smaller bank where you build as well as oversee

  • Fluent in English and Swedish

  • FRM, PRM, or CFA certification is a plus

Why Brocc?

We're a ~50-person team backed by Cerberus Capital Management, with local presence in Stockholm, Helsinki, and London and operations across 15 European markets. You'll join at a pivotal moment in our growth, with real ownership of your area and direct visibility to senior leadership, including the CRO, CEO, and Board. We move fast, we value people who take initiative, and we're building a credit institution that genuinely changes how consumers and counterparties experience finance.
