We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) who embed directly with major clients to architect, deploy, and scale complex software, data, or AI systems in real-world production environments, bridging the gap between external enterprise needs and internal product engineering. In particular, a Senior FDE is a high-impact, customer-facing technical role. This role should demonstrate strong customer-facing communication, technical ownership, problem-solving, project coordination, and mentoring capabilities.
You will be assigned as a senior RPCD (Customer Requirements, Product, Coding, Deployment) too, responsible for managing the full technical lifecycle; from customer requirement analysis and product development to deployment and post-deployment support. This senior position oversees translating client feedback into functional software, writing clean code, and managing safe system deployments.
Key Phases of RPCD
- Requirements: Gathering and defining what the customer or market needs. This stage uses tools to outline features, constraints, and goals.
- Product: Designing the solution blueprint, user experience (UX), and architecture based on those requirements.
- Coding: The actual building and development phase where engineers write the software or construct the product.
- Deployment: Delivering the completed product or code update into the production environment so the customer can use it.
Roles and Responsibilities
1. Customer Requirement Analysis and Customer Integration: Embed with client technical teams to scope requirements, design architectures, and build tailored technical solutions
- Gather, analyze, and clarify customer technical and functional requirements.
- Translate customer requirements into clear technical specifications and development tasks.
- Evaluate feasibility, technical complexity, effort, resources, and delivery timelines.
- Communicate technical solutions and limitations to customers and internal stakeholders.
2. Product Coding: Write production-grade code, build MVPs, and configure cloud infrastructure
- Write clean, scalable, maintainable, efficient, and reliable code following established coding standards.
- Ensure code quality, maintainability, performance, and compliance with development standards.
- Perform debugging, integration, setup automated tests, technical troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality, maintainability, security, and adherence to coding standards.
3. Product Development & Implementation: Product feature implementation, push code safely through staging into production environments
- Design, develop, customize, and maintain product features based on customer requirements.
- Integrate new features with existing systems, applications, and third-party components.
- Participate in architecture and technical design discussions.
- Analyze and resolve complex technical issues during development and deployment.
4. On-Site Deployment Management: Coordinate and execute customer-site deployments, including system configuration, installation, integration, testing, troubleshooting, technical support, and customer training, ensuring successful and timely product implementation
- Plan and execute product deployment and implementation at customer sites.
- Manage installation, configuration, integration, testing, and system validation.
- Troubleshoot deployment and production issues.
- Coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure smooth and timely implementation.
- Provide technical support and customer training when required.
5. Server Deployment & System Monitoring: Manage and execute server deployment and configuration; track live performance, check logs, and fix production bugs
- Manage server installation, configuration, application deployment, and system integration for customer and internal environments.
- Monitor system performance, availability, and stability.
- Analyze logs and system issues and coordinate troubleshooting activities.
- Perform system health checks and support post-deployment optimization.
- Translate field learnings and recurring client challenges back to internal product and engineering teams to shape core platform roadmaps.
6. Outsourced Development Management: Assess the feasibility and expected workload of outsourced development projects
- Evaluate outsourced development workload, technical complexity, resources, and timelines.
- Define development scope, technical requirements, and expected deliverables for external vendors.
- Review vendor estimates and development progress.
- Monitor outsourced development quality, schedule, and delivery.
7. Internal Training & Knowledge Transfer: Prepare training materials, technical documentation, and hands-on exercises to support internal staff in understanding and using the product effectively
- Develop and deliver internal training on product features, technical implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions for development, support, and operations teams.
- Prepare technical documentation, training materials, and deployment procedures.
- Provide technical mentoring and guidance to junior team members.
Core Requirements & Skills
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in software development, system implementation, technical support, or a similar role.
- Strong experience in customer requirement analysis, technical solution design or customer-facing technical architecture experience.
- Solid software development and debugging experience.
- Experience with server deployment, system integration, and production troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with cloud services, SQL optimization, and modern data/AI frameworks.
- Experience working directly with customers and managing technical implementation projects.
- Experience coordinating with external vendors or outsourced development teams.
- Good understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Advanced programming proficiency in Python or similar languages; strong command of Linux.
- Ability to analyze technical issues and provide practical solutions.
- Strong communication skills in both technical and business contexts.
- Willingness to travel for customer on-site deployment and implementation, if required.
