Senior / FPGA Firmware Engineer (Ref 26545a)
Summary
Designs and maintains FPGA firmware, RTL modules, and device drivers while optimizing performance and debugging hardware-software integration for signal-processing systems.
Responsibilities
- Implement and maintain FPGA firmware modules, waveform layers, and device drivers.
- Execute feature development, bug fixes, profiling, and performance optimization activities.
- Develop unit tests, integration tests, and RTL simulations to ensure firmware correctness and stability.
- Perform firmware bring-up, integration, and validation on new or modified hardware variants.
- Debug and resolve HW/FW/SW integration issues across FPGA, DSP, RF, and system interfaces.
- Contribute to firmware and Datapath design in alignment with the overall system and waveform architecture.
- Work closely with DSP, FPGA, RF, and System Engineering teams to support system-level integration.
- Participate in RTL and design reviews, providing implementation feedback and technical input.
- Produce and maintain technical documentation covering interfaces, protocols, data structures, and performance results.
- Provide technical guidance and code review support to junior engineers where applicable.
Requirements
- Knowledge in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
- Strong experience in FPGA firmware development using VHDL/Verilog, with working knowledge of RTL design practices.
- Working experience in embedded firmware development using C/C++.
- Good understanding of DSP fundamentals, waveform processing chains, and FPGA/DSP or HW/SW interfaces.
- Familiar with RTL simulation, validation, and testbench development.
- Experience debugging HW/FW/SW integration issues using tools such as JTAG, logic analyzers, and RF test equipment.
- Able to analyses performance, timing constraints, and Datapath behavior with guidance where required.
- Demonstrates structured problem-solving skills with clear technical documentation.
