Senior Fraud Deterrence Analyst

Summary

Review fraud alerts, investigate suspicious account activity, and recommend detection-rule changes to protect banking customers during evening shifts.

You detect and prevent suspected fraud by reviewing alerts, investigating unusual account activity, documenting findings, communicating outcomes, identifying emerging fraud patterns, recommending detection-rule changes, and escalating complex or time-sensitive cases. You work in a hybrid environment supporting clients across Canada during an evening Wednesday-to-Sunday shift.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize information requests and escalate issues to the Supervisor
  • Analyze and investigate fraud cases and alerts
  • Review customer account information, account history, bank statements, and cheques
  • Contact customers, branches, business lines, and relevant external partners during investigations
  • Identify potential fraud trends and emerging fraud patterns
  • Refer unusual or fraudulent incidents to applicable stakeholders
  • Record recommended actions and update case management systems
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders and case outcomes to customers
  • Terminate problematic customer relationships when necessary
  • File Unusual Transaction Reports when required for AML compliance
  • Recommend changes to fraud detection rules
  • Escalate incidents and alerts that cannot be completed within defined SLAs

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or at least 2 years of relevant banking experience
  • Banking experience, with fraud or commercial experience considered an asset
  • Understanding of retail, small business, and commercial banking activities and practices
  • Superior verbal, written, and electronic communication skills
  • Knowledge of banking delivery channels, products, benefits, and services
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook
