Summary

Frontend engineer on a project team building a modern React/TypeScript intranet platform for a government tax agency in Singapore: turning UX designs into accessible UI components, integrating REST APIs, and maintaining a shared component library. 15-month contract, convertible.

Salary: $7,000 – $8,000 per month

About the role

We are looking for a Frontend Engineer to join a project team delivering a modern intranet platform for a government tax agency. You will work closely with product managers, backend engineers, and UX designers to build intuitive internal tools that streamline tax administration workflows used by thousands of public officers daily. This is an opportunity to contribute to meaningful public infrastructure — helping modernise legacy systems and improve the day-to-day experience of government employees.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and maintain responsive, performant web applications using React and TypeScript

  • Translate UX wireframes and design specs into clean, accessible UI components

  • Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate RESTful APIs and define data contracts

  • Write unit and integration tests to maintain code quality and reliability

  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and sprint ceremonies

  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and cross-browser compatibility issues

  • Contribute to and maintain a shared component library

About you

  • 6+ years of frontend development experience

  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript and React (hooks, context, component patterns)

  • Solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and responsive design principles

  • Experience consuming and integrating REST APIs

  • Familiarity with modern tooling: Vite or Webpack, ESLint, Git

  • Ability to write maintainable, well-tested code

  • Experience with state management libraries (Zustand, Redux Toolkit, or similar)

  • Exposure to design systems or component libraries (e.g. Ant Design, MUI)

  • Prior work on internal tooling, enterprise systems, or government/public sector projects

  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1)
