Senior Frontend Engineer

Salary: React-first role + React Native runway

About the Opportunity
We’re working with a well established NZ SaaS business that’s scaling into Australia and continuing to modernise a core product used every day by customers in the field.
This role is React-first. Your core focus will be building and improving their React (Next.js) web apps, with a genuine opportunity to lean further into React Native over time (their mobile app is a key part of the product, not an afterthought).
You’ll work closely with a strong Frontend Lead and a lean senior team, taking meaningful pieces of work from spec through to production. There’s also a supporting .NET (C#) / Azure stack behind it, and you’ll occasionally dip into the backend when it helps ship a complete, verified feature.
The product has plenty of “real world” complexity too. If you’ve dealt with tricky edge cases like rounding/precision or time zone handling (finance, payments, bookings, scheduling, etc.), that experience will translate well here.
What you’ll be Doing

• Building new features and improving existing ones in React + TypeScript, primarily in the web product (Next.js)
• Partnering with the Frontend Lead on frontend architecture, performance, patterns, and code review
• Improving speed and responsiveness: rendering, heavy data screens, caching, and mobile/web performance considerations
• Contributing to a shared design system and component patterns across web and mobile
• Getting hands-on in React Native (Expo) as you ramp up, with clear runway to take on more mobile ownership if that’s where you want to go
• Delivering end-to-end increments, occasionally touching the C#/.NET backend and Azure environment to make sure work lands cleanly

What you’ll Bring

• Strong, commercial React + TypeScript experience (senior level)
• A practical engineering mindset: performance, quality, and maintainability
• Next.js experience (or strong equivalent) is ideal
• Interest in React Native, or experience already (either is fine). The key is you’re keen to go deeper on mobile
• Bonus: experience in domains where details matter (rounding, currency, time zones, precision)
• Bonus: familiarity with .NET (C#) and Azure, or willingness to learn enough to be effective end-to-end
