(Senior) Frontend Engineer - Webstack (all genders)
Description
- Build and maintain frontend features for our Web Shop (desktop, mobile web, tablet) with React and TypeScript. At ABOUT YOU, the details matter: we optimise down to the p99 and build our own abstractions or frameworks when standard solutions fall short
- Work directly with product, UX and QA to ship fast and build products that work for real customers, not just internal testers
- Help move our craft into the AI era: with Claude as our go-to (Cursor is an option too), we vibe-code custom solutions like our A/B testing, build our own tooling such as deployment dashboards and automate small features
- Shape monitoring that catches gaps after deployments and during campaigns: tell real customers from wanted and unwanted bots, set the right severity and keep alerts stable instead of noisy
- Solve uncommon problems with our security team, who regularly challenge our work, and make the solutions fit our architecture
- Improve as you go: small enhancements happen on demand, bigger refactorings are backed by PoCs and research. We prioritise by value for the company, and tech chores count too, because our leadership knows they keep us fast and productive
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment: own features from concept to deployment, learn and share through code reviews, with a team that has your back
- 5+ years of frontend development with strong TypeScript/JavaScript and React skills (hooks, context, ecosystem)
- Solid HTML and modern CSS (e.g. CSS-in-JS, responsive design), plus a good grasp of web performance (Core Web Vitals) and accessibility (a11y)
- Experience integrating REST APIs and managing state (e.g. Redux, Zustand, React Query)
- Experience with frontend testing (e.g. Jest, React Testing Library) and modern tooling (e.g. Vite, npm, yarn), Git and CI/CD
- Curiosity for AI-assisted development (e.g. Claude, Cursor) and the judgment to critically review what it produces
- Problem-solving mindset and ownership: you tackle non-standard problems, weigh several sources of information, carry features through to production and ask for help when it’s useful
Nice to have
- Experience with server-side rendering (SSR) and Node.js
- Experience in a large-scale e-commerce environment, ideally with a design system or component library
- End-to-end testing experience (e.g. Cypress)
- Interest in monitoring/observability or web security (e.g. bot traffic, alerting)
