Senior Frontend Web Developer - SAP Fiori /SAP UI5
Summary
Senior frontend developer in Islamabad owning production SAP Fiori/UI5 standalone apps (XML views, TypeScript, SCSS) alongside React/Next.js surfaces, consuming OData/REST microservices. The role sets frontend architecture and quality standards, writes tests, mentors via code review, and uses Cursor AI agents professionally.
We are hiring a Frontend Web Developer to own and deliver production web applications, including SAP Fiori standalone applications using TypeScript and SCSS, alongside React and Next.js surfaces.
This is a hands-on technical role responsible for setting engineering standards across architecture, code quality, and peer reviews. Success requires the professional application of AI-assisted, agentic development workflows (specifically using tools like Cursor). Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in executing scoped tasks, generating clean, reviewable diffs, and applying rigorous code verification, moving far beyond basic chat-window copy-pasting.
Key responsibilities
Own end-to-end frontend delivery from user stories and acceptance criteria in short Agile cycles; unblock others and keep quality high under rapid iteration.
Design, build, and maintain SAP Fiori standalone applications using XML views, TypeScript, and SCSS (fragments, controllers/services, theming, and responsive layouts).
Design, build, and maintain React applications with TypeScript, including Next.js (routing, data fetching, SSR/SSG, API routes or BFF patterns as needed).
Consume and integrate OData as the primary data API (v2/v4): $filter, $expand, $select, $orderby, paging, $count, and metadata-driven UI; auth-aware clients, error handling, loading/empty/error states, and typed mapping. Use REST where a non-OData endpoint is required.
Understand microservices and consume them correctly from the frontend: identify service ownership, route through gateway vs. domain API, avoid duplicating backend logic on the client, and coordinate contract/metadata gaps with backend.
Convert agentic-generated HTML designs into SAP Fiori elements and XML views, implemented and themed with SCSS — restructure raw HTML into proper Fiori controls, fragments, and layouts.
Apply MERN-stack fluency: Node/Express-style APIs, MongoDB or equivalent data stores, and writing or reviewing queries for efficient data fetching.
Define and uphold frontend architecture: Fiori MVC layers and React patterns (components, hooks, OData/API modules), with a clear split between UI and data access.
Raise the quality bar: Vitest, QUnit/OPA5, Sinon, Playwright, and Node.js test runner for critical logic and user flows; meaningful code reviews; mentoring on standards and agentic workflows.
Drive technical decisions with Backend, QA, Product, and Design; coordinate OData metadata/API contract changes with backend.
Use Cursor and AI agents as a senior practitioner: break work into agent-ready tasks, constrain scope, inspect generated code, verify before merge, and coach the team.
Required technical capabilities
Minimum experience: 3+ years in frontend (or full-stack frontend-heavy) delivery, including ownership of production applications.
SCSS/SASS — modular stylesheets, variables/mixins, theming, and responsive layouts at scale.
XML views (and fragments) in SAP Fiori / SAPUI5 — must be able to author, structure, and bind XML views.
Ability to own SAP Fiori standalone applications (XML views, TypeScript + SCSS): routing, controllers/services, and styling.
Production React at seniority (hooks, composition, state architecture, forms, performance, maintainable component design).
Next.js in real production projects (routing, data fetching, environment/config, SSR/SSG, build and deploy awareness).
API integration — designing or consuming HTTP APIs; comfortable reading OpenAPI/Swagger and pushing back on gaps.
Microservices (frontend consumption) — service boundaries, ownership, gateway and OData/REST per domain.
MERN (or equivalent) stack — Node.js, Express (or similar), MongoDB or another document/SQL store.
Databases and queries — read schemas, write or review filters/aggregations, decide client vs. server responsibility.
Design conversion from agentic HTML — rebuild AI-generated HTML as Fiori elements and XML views with SCSS.
Git and senior review practice — feature branches, high-signal PRs, mentoring through code review.
Agile / rapid delivery — own outcomes across short sprints, changing priorities, incremental shipping.
Agentic development with Cursor — professional use of AI agents (task scoping, rules/context, reviewing output, not shipping unreviewed AI code).
Preferred experience
OData (v2 or v4) as a consumer: filtering, expand, select, paging, metadata-driven UIs.
SAP BTP or comparable enterprise PaaS (auth, destinations, multi-app landscapes).
Component libraries (MUI or similar), Vite, and Web Components.
i18n, accessibility (WCAG), and design-system discipline (including Fiori theming).
CI ownership (Vitest, QUnit/OPA5, Playwright, typecheck, lint, coverage gates) and frontend performance profiling.
Prior SAP/OData experience is not a hiring blocker. Strong TypeScript, SCSS, React/Next.js, APIs, and data skills are.
Features ship on schedule, match acceptance criteria, and hold up in production — including SAP Fiori standalone screens as XML views / Fiori elements styled in SCSS.
Agentic HTML mockups converted into maintainable Fiori XML; SCSS, Fiori patterns, and React components stay consistent for the team to follow.
API usage is typed, efficient, and honest about loading and error states; calls go to the correct microservice / contract.
PRs are easy to review; tests cover risky paths; juniors/peers improve from your feedback.
Cursor/agents used to accelerate work and model production-quality standards for the team.
Agile, story-driven delivery with contract-aware frontend — API and microservice ownership understood before client workarounds.
Primary interfaces
Works with Backend/API, Platform/BTP, Mobile, AI Services, QA Automation, Product/Design, and Business Analysis across delivery pods. Frontend owns UI and client integration; OData metadata and API contract changes are coordinated with backend.
