Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.
Our Team
Join Micron’s Smart Manufacturing & AI (SMAI) Engineering organization, where we develop next-generation intelligent software and AI agent solutions that speed up semiconductor manufacturing operations.
We aim to build scalable, secure, and production-ready AI systems that improve Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), engineering workflows, manufacturing decision making, and operational efficiency at Micron’s factories worldwide.
You will operate at the crossroads of software engineering, artificial intelligence, semiconductor manufacturing, and enterprise systems. The role requires close collaboration with MES groups, process engineers, equipment engineers, architects, and manufacturing technology specialists to achieve important business results through contemporary AI technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, develop, deploy, and operate AI-enabled applications, services, and agent-based solutions supporting manufacturing operations and MES ecosystems.
- Work closely with MES organizations, manufacturing engineering teams, data specialists, and business collaborators to transform requirements into production-grade software systems.
- Build and implement full-stack software solutions including backend services, APIs, user experiences, databases, integrations, and cloud-native components.
- Integrate AI applications with MES or equivalent experience, manufacturing systems, corporate platforms, document repositories, event-driven services, APIs, and enterprise data sources.
- Build and develop agentic AI solutions applying capabilities such as tool calling, workflow orchestration, multi-step execution, context management, and human-in-the-loop review processes.
- Evaluate, monitor, and continuously improve AI solution quality, reliability, safety, governance, observability, and operational performance.
- Analyze and resolve production issues involving software behavior, MES integration, AI outputs, data flows, infrastructure, scalability, and platform reliability.
- Drive software engineering excellence through architecture reviews, build discussions, code reviews, testing strategies, CI/CD automation, and operational guidelines.
- Apply generative AI development tools and modern engineering practices to improve software quality, developer efficiency, and delivery speed.
- Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation. Provide Level 3 support for production AI applications and platforms owned by the team. This includes Priority 1 and Priority 2 incident response activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or an equivalent level of hands-on experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in software engineering, AI engineering, enterprise application development, or related technical fields.
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages including C#, Python, Java, TypeScript, or JavaScript.
- Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience crafting and consuming REST APIs and integrating enterprise systems.
- Experience with source control, automated testing, code review processes, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
- Experience resolving production issues by fixing, debugging, monitoring, performance analysis, and root cause investigation.
- Demonstrates good communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate technical trade-offs, risks, recommendations, and solution builds to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in developing, integrating, or supporting factory production control solutions, factory automation systems, engineering platforms, or smart manufacturing solutions.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, engineering procedures, production frameworks, or manufacturing data environments.
- Hands-on experience developing AI Agents, Copilots, multi-agent systems, or autonomous AI workflows.
