Third developer on the small team behind HYPE Boards (formerly Viima), an idea and innovation management SaaS. You build features across the whole stack — Django/Python backend, JavaScript frontend, plus some DevOps — and help modernise a large, long-lived codebase, working remotely within Finland with an office in the Helsinki region.

About us
HYPE Boards, formerly known as Viima, is an idea and innovation management platform. It was founded in Espoo in 2013 and is now used by many organisations worldwide, including If, L'Óreal, Cathay Pacific and Eurowings. Our customers use it to collect ideas from employees and partners, develop the best ones and turn them into measurable business results.
Since 2021 we have been part of HYPE Innovation, an international group with offices in Germany, Finland, the US and Canada. You get the stability of an established product and an international group, with the influence and pace of a small team.
The role and the team
This is a true full-stack role, split roughly 50/50 between frontend, backend and even DevOps. You will join two developers, one based in Espoo and one in Europe, as the team's third developer. The whole team meets a few times a year and the team members in Finland meet at the office on a weekly basis.
What you will do:
Develop new features across the whole stack, from Django models and APIs to the user interface
Work in a large, long-lived codebase and keep it healthy as it grows
Help modernise the frontend and the parts around the core, step by step
Influence technical decisions and ways of working, as an equal member of a small team
Use AI-assisted development in your daily work, with a human in the loop
What we're looking for
We are looking for a senior developer who enjoys both frontend and backend work and doesn't strongly prefer one over the other.
You'll succeed in this role if you have:
Several years (10+ years) of professional experience in full-stack web development
Strong hands-on experience with Django and Python. Those are the techs you’d be working with the most.
Solid JavaScript skills and a genuine interest in frontend work
Strong programming fundamentals that you rely on, even when you work with AI tools
Experience working in a large, long-lived codebase
The habit of solving problems independently, and of asking for help when it makes sense
Good communication skills in English
It's a plus if you have:
Experience with Django REST Framework
Experience with other frontend technologies like Vue.js for example
Experience with authentication and identity: OAuth, SAML, JWT
Experience with multi-tenant SaaS on AWS
Finnish language skills
