Reports to: Engineering Lead

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full-stack Engineer with deep frontend expertise and strong backend integration capability.

You will take primary responsibility for React and Next.js platforms, component architecture, Strapi integration, accessibility, frontend performance and high-quality implementation.

Although the role has a frontend platform focus, you must also be comfortable working with Node.js services, APIs, shared TypeScript models and backend integrations.

This role suits a senior engineer who can independently own complete product features rather than only implementing individual frontend tickets.

Key Responsibilities

Frontend Platform Development

• Build and maintain applications using React, Next.js and TypeScript
• Develop scalable and reusable component systems
• Establish clear frontend architecture and coding patterns
• Implement responsive interfaces across desktop, tablet and mobile
• Maintain consistency across multiple websites or platforms

CMS and API Integration

• Integrate frontend applications with Strapi
• Build and maintain API integrations
• Collaborate on content models and CMS architecture
• Develop robust loading, error and empty states
• Maintain shared TypeScript models and validation
• Support backend feature development where required

Accessibility

• Implement interfaces aligned with WCAG requirements
• Support keyboard navigation and assistive technologies
• Review semantic HTML and accessible component patterns
• Identify and resolve accessibility defects
• Include accessibility considerations in code reviews and testing

Performance

• Improve Core Web Vitals and frontend performance
• Optimise rendering, caching, images and application bundles
• Monitor and investigate performance regressions
• Implement appropriate server-side rendering and static generation strategies
• Improve frontend reliability across devices and network conditions

Quality and Testing

• Write unit, integration and end-to-end tests
• Participate in peer code reviews
• Identify technical debt and maintainability risks
• Support QA and release validation
• Investigate and resolve production issues
• Maintain clear technical documentation
• Work closely with the Engineering Lead, designers and project teams
• Contribute to technical planning and estimation
• Support backend and mobile engineers where appropriate
• Communicate risks, blockers and trade-offs clearlyShare knowledge and contribute to team standards

Required Experience

• At least six years’ software engineering experience
• Advanced React, Next.js and TypeScript experience
• Strong understanding of modern frontend architecture
• Experience building reusable component systems
• Experience integrating REST or GraphQL APIs
• Experience with Node.js backend services
• Strong understanding of accessibility and semantic HTML
• Experience improving frontend performance and Core Web Vitals
• Strong automated testing experience
• Experience supporting production applications
• Professional English communication

Preferred Experience

• Experience with Strapi
• Experience with NestJS
• Experience with Storybook
• Experience with design systems
• Experience with React Native or Expo
• Experience with AWS or Azure
• Experience with authentication and session flows
• Experience working with distributed international teams
• Agency or multi-client delivery experience

• Contributed to API and CMS integration standards
• Documented key frontend patterns and development practices
