Senior Full-Stack Engineer (MERN Stack)

Our client is seeking a highly proficient and experienced Senior Full-Stack Engineer, with a strong command of the MERN stack (MongoDB, Express.js, React, Node.js), to join their dynamic and fully remote engineering team. This role is perfect for an individual passionate about building end-to-end web applications, from database design to user interface implementation. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and deploying scalable and performant applications that drive our business forward. Working remotely from Soweto, Gauteng, ZA, you will collaborate with a talented, geographically dispersed team, contributing to innovative projects and ensuring the highest standards of code quality and user experience. Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain full-stack web applications using the MERN stack.
• Develop robust backend services and APIs using Node.js and Express.js.
• Build dynamic and responsive user interfaces using React and associated libraries.
• Design and manage MongoDB databases, ensuring data integrity and performance.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers to define requirements and deliver features.
• Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and testable code for both frontend and backend.
• Optimize application performance for speed and scalability.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve complex issues across the full stack.
• Participate actively in code reviews, providing and receiving constructive feedback.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in MERN stack development and full-stack engineering.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in full-stack development, with a strong emphasis on the MERN stack.
• Proficiency in Node.js and Express.js for backend development.
• Expertise in React for frontend development, including hooks and state management (e.g., Redux).
• Strong experience with MongoDB database design and querying.
• Solid understanding of RESTful API principles and asynchronous programming.
• Experience with HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Familiarity with version control systems, such as Git.
• Knowledge of unit testing and end-to-end testing frameworks.
• Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote role.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote setting.
