Senior Full Stack Engineer (React/TypeScript, AWS)

Our client is supporting a government-related digital transformation project in Singapore, focused on maintaining, enhancing, and modernising large-scale digital platforms used across the public sector.

The project involves a portfolio of enterprise applications supporting a large user base, with a strong emphasis on system reliability, security, application modernisation, and long-term maintainability.

This opportunity offers an experienced engineer the chance to take technical ownership of critical digital services, contribute to architecture and migration decisions, and work closely with engineering teams and stakeholders.

About the Role

This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will take ownership of multiple applications, including both modern and legacy systems.

You will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing existing platforms, leading application migration initiatives, improving engineering standards, and ensuring production stability.

Working closely with engineers, product teams, and business stakeholders, you will provide technical direction while remaining actively involved in software development, troubleshooting, and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Full Stack Development & Application Maintenance

• Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs, services, and relational databases.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex application issues across multiple codebases and technology stacks.
• Deliver bug fixes, security patches, performance improvements, and application enhancements.
• Provide L2/L3 production support, monitoring, and incident resolution to ensure system reliability.
• Lead application migration and legacy system modernisation initiatives.
• Evaluate existing architectures and recommend improvements to scalability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Make technical design decisions and manage trade-offs between performance, reliability, security, and development efficiency.
• Support application lifecycle management, including system transitions, migrations, and decommissioning.
• Maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, operational runbooks, and handover materials.
• Work with cloud-hosted applications and containerised environments using AWS and Docker.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software releases.
• Monitor application health and troubleshoot production issues using tools such as AWS CloudWatch and OpenTelemetry.
• Establish and maintain engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, version control, and release management.
• Ensure applications follow appropriate security and compliance standards.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other engineers.
• Lead code reviews and promote high-quality software engineering practices.
• Collaborate with engineering teams, product stakeholders, and business users to align technical solutions with business requirements.
• Identify technical risks, resolve engineering challenges, and contribute to technical planning and prioritisation.
• Take ownership of the technical health, stability, and long-term maintainability of assigned applications.

Requirements

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in Full Stack Software Engineering, including experience in a senior or technical lead capacity.
• Solid experience in backend API development, service integration, and relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
• Experience working across multiple applications, technology stacks, and legacy codebases.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, system design, and application modernisation.
• Hands-on experience with AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience with application monitoring, troubleshooting, and production support.
• Strong knowledge of Git, code reviews, automated testing, and software engineering best practices.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.
• Ability to independently drive technical decisions, troubleshoot complex issues, and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS ECS, CloudWatch, and OpenTelemetry.
• Experience leading legacy application migrations or system decommissioning initiatives.
• Familiarity with government or public-sector technology projects.
• Experience supporting enterprise applications with large user bases.
• Knowledge of secure coding practices and regulatory compliance requirements.
