Senior Full Stack Engineer

Summary

Build and ship full-stack features for a CPG analytics platform using React/TypeScript frontend, Python/FastAPI backend, and Kubernetes/GitOps delivery, with AI-augmented workflows and on-call rotations.

Svitla Systems Inc. is looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in Mexico. The client is a CPG (consumer packaged goods) category- and sales-analytics platform that uses machine learning to deliver faster, smarter recommendations to customers. It allows monitoring of the products' performance across history, market distribution, channels, and competition.

A full-stack engineer should be equally comfortable with a React/TypeScript frontend, a Python/FastAPI + Airflow data backend, and a Kubernetes-based delivery pipeline — and already work fluently with agentic development tooling. You'll own features end to end: from the data pipeline that computes a metric, through the API that serves it, to the chart the customer sees — and the container and manifest that ship it to production. It is a hands-on role for someone who has done this at scale before and can raise the bar in quality, architecture, and AI-augmented delivery. Roughly 55% backend (Python/FastAPI/Airflow), 35% frontend (React/TypeScript), 10% infra & delivery (Docker, K8S, Helm, ArgoCD, Terraform). The on-call rotation schedule is one week every 4 weeks, Monday through Friday. There are two on-call engineers every week: one covers the morning, and the other covers the afternoon, with a midday overlap. On-call is part of an engineer's duties; it is not OT. The idea is that the on-call engineer will own the #ops Slack channel and be responsible for responding to any high-priority issue. The team has 3 main types of requests we get in the #ops channel:

  • System down issue: This is the highest priority and should be addressed immediately.
  • Helping with issues on the main platform web app (the main product). The CS team sometimes needs assistance with tasks such as data fixes or backend processes that they cannot run themselves.
  • A bug is discovered that needs prompt fixing.

Frontend: React 18, TypeScript 5 (Strict Mode), Redux, Redux-Saga, Immutable.js, TanStack Query, React Router 7, Styled Components, Highcharts, AG Grid Enterprise, Webpack 5, Jest, Cypress.

Backend & Data: Python 3.12, FastAPI, Pydantic v2, Apache Airflow, Polars, Pandas, SQLAlchemy, MySQL (Sharded Architecture), PostgreSQL, pgvector, Ruff, Mypy, Pytest.

Infrastructure & DevOps: Docker, Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), Karpenter, Argo CD (GitOps), Helm, Terraform, Amazon ECR, Prometheus, Grafana, Sentry, Jaeger, Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions (CI/CD).

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of experience in building and operating production web applications. A clear senior/staff-level full-stack engineer track record.
  • Strong knowledge of React and TypeScript (state management, performance, testing), ideally with data-dense UIs (grids, charts, dashboards).
  • Knowledge of Python for backend/API and data work (FastAPI or similar; SQL and relational modeling; be comfortable with large datasets).
  • Experience with Docker & Kubernetes in production — you've containerized and operated services on k8s, not just run kubectl get pods.
  • Familiarity with GitOps (ArgoCD/Flux), Helm, and IaC (Terraform).
  • Solid understanding of SQL and a data pipeline (Airflow or an equivalent orchestrator).
  • Hands-on experience in agentic development — you already build with AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, similar), understanding of MCP or comparable tool-use patterns, and integrate LLMs into product features responsibly.
  • Strong skills in English communication and the seniority to own ambiguous problems.

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to CPG, retail, syndicated data (Circana, SPINS, Nielsen).
  • Familiarity with JVM (Java/Scala, Play) for the legacy service.
  • Understanding of Prometheus/Grafana observability; cost-aware autoscaling (Karpenter/spot).
  • Experience modernizing a monolith toward services.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and ship full-stack features across the React frontend, Python services, and (where needed) the legacy JVM API — owning them from data model to UI.
  • Design and maintain data/ETL pipelines in Airflow and the FastAPI services that expose them, with an eye on performance over large multi-tenant datasets.
  • Work inside the Kubernetes/GitOps delivery model — containerize services, tune Helm values, and ship through ArgoCD across test, staging, and production.
  • Use agentic tooling (Claude Code, MCP servers, our internal workflow system) to move faster and to build AI-powered product capabilities.
  • Improve reliability and observability, review peers' code, and mentor mid-level engineers.

Success in the first 3 months:

  • Shipping full-stack features independently across the React app and Python services.
  • Be comfortable deploying through the ArgoCD/Helm pipeline and debugging in k8s.
  • Introducing agentic workflows that measurably speed up the team.
