Senior Full-Stack Python Engineer

About the Role
We're looking for a Senior Full-Stack Python Engineer to join a fast-growing startup building AI-powered products.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work directly with the founders, own features end-to-end, and contribute to both technical and product decisions. Approximately 70% of your work will focus on backend development using Python, Django, and SQL, while 30% will involve React-based frontend development.
We're looking for someone who enjoys ownership, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable using modern AI coding tools to accelerate development.
What You'll Do
Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Python and SQL
Build scalable APIs and production-ready backend systems
Develop and enhance frontend features using React
Take product features from idea through implementation and production
Work directly with founders, engineers, and customers to shape product functionality
Debug production issues and implement long-term solutions
Make practical engineering decisions balancing speed, quality, and maintainability
Contribute to architecture and technical direction
Leverage modern AI coding assistants and agentic coding workflows to improve productivity
Must-Have Requirements
5+ years of professional software development experience
Strong commercial experience with Python
Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
Experience building and deploying production software used by real customers
Full-stack development experience with a strong backend focus
Experience designing APIs and backend services
Ability to independently own features from concept to production
Experience using AI coding assistants or agentic coding workflows
Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
Product-oriented mindset
Strong English communication skills
Comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment
Availability to overlap with New York business hours

Commercial experience with Django
Experience with React and JavaScript
Experience with Pandas and dataframe-based data processing
Experience with Node.js
Experience with AWS or another major cloud platform
Experience building AI-powered products, LLM applications, autonomous agents, or workflow automation
Experience in B2B SaaS, sales tech, marketing tech, or data enrichment platforms
Experience working directly with customers
