Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer (2 Positions)

GivEnergy Software is looking for two experienced Full-Stack Software Engineers to maintain, enhance, and evolve our software platform while helping shape the next generation of intelligent energy management solutions. Our software stack consists of a predominantly serverless AWS backend that processes data from our fleet of internet-connected devices, delivering value to customers through REST APIs, a PHP web application, Flutter mobile apps (Android & iOS), and emerging AI-powered capabilities.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of the software development lifecycle, champion technical excellence, and play a key role in maintaining, modernising, and expanding our software platform. Working closely with both local and international stakeholders, you will progressively take on broader technical ownership and operational responsibilities as the engineering function continues to evolve globally. Your expertise will be instrumental in guiding architectural decisions, improving engineering practices, and delivering scalable, reliable software that supports our long-term business objectives.

Key Accountabilities

Onboarding & Technical Ownership

Quickly gain a thorough understanding of the existing software platform through knowledge transfer from the current engineering team.

Take ownership of the GivEnergy software stack and assume responsibility for its ongoing operation, maintenance, and future development.

Identify and implement opportunities to improve platform performance, operational efficiency, and cloud cost optimisation. Strong AWS expertise will be essential.

Software Management

Work independently or alongside another senior engineer to ensure the continuity, stability, security, and scalability of the complete software platform, including:

AWS-based, predominantly serverless backend

PHP/Laravel web application

Flutter mobile applications for Android and iOS

AI-enabled software components and services, where applicable

Perform ongoing system administration, operational support, and platform maintenance.

Collaborate effectively with engineering and business teams across multiple regions, with increasing responsibility for supporting global software operations and knowledge ownership.

Strategic Responsibilities

Help define and execute the long-term software strategy in alignment with business goals.

Design and implement new platform capabilities and product enhancements.

Contribute to architectural and technical decisions that influence company direction.

Provide technical input into product roadmap planning and future technology investments.

Evaluate and adopt AI technologies where they deliver measurable value, including developer productivity, automation, analytics, and product features.

Practical Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain applications written in TypeScript, PHP/Laravel, Flutter, and supporting cloud services.

Develop and integrate AI-powered software features, services, or automation where appropriate.

Monitor platform health and respond to incidents and alerts to maintain high service availability.

Perform software upgrades, security patching, dependency management, and ongoing platform maintenance.

Continuously improve engineering processes, workflows, and development practices.

Manage technical tooling, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and operational processes.

Ensure solutions are aligned with architectural standards, security requirements, and the company's global engineering vision.

What We're Looking For

A self-motivated, dependable engineer who is comfortable taking ownership of complex systems and working effectively in a dynamic environment.

At least 8 years of professional software development experience, including experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architecture.

Extensive hands-on development experience while maintaining strategic and technical oversight.

Demonstrated ability to understand, maintain, and enhance existing production systems with minimal supervision.

Experience collaborating with distributed or international engineering teams and progressively taking ownership of critical systems.

Practical experience using modern AI-assisted development tools and applying AI technologies responsibly to improve software development, operational efficiency, or product capabilities while maintaining strong engineering fundamentals and code quality.

Technical Skills

Experience in several of the following technologies is highly desirable:

TypeScript (Node.js)

PHP / Laravel

Flutter

AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, Aurora, EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, S3, ElastiCache, SES, SSM)

Serverless architecture

AI/LLM integration (e.g. OpenAI APIs, Amazon Bedrock, Anthropic, vector databases, AI agents, or similar technologies)

Messaging and queueing (SQS or equivalent)

GitHub and modern version control workflows

RESTful API design, development, and integration

Google Play Console and Apple App Store deployment

IoT platforms and connected devices

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM)

CI/CD and automation pipelines

OAuth2 and modern authentication protocols
