Senior Software Engineer – SALOG System

In this IT role, you will manage, develop, and support the technology infrastructure that powers Kuehne+Nagel’s global systems and operations. You will be part of a cross‑functional product team working on our mission‑critical SALOG application, supporting Sea/Air Forwarding operations worldwide.

How You Create Impact

• Your focus will be on our new Sea/Air Logistics System, implementing functional and technical components in a modern continuous delivery environment.
• Take responsibility for the quality and long‑term maintainability of the developed software.
• Contribute to a tech stack migration project, moving from a Java Swing application to a new Angular app; troubleshoot and optimize existing code to ensure a smooth transition.
• Conduct development tests, code reviews, and create unit tests and examinations.
• Be involved throughout the entire development lifecycle, from requirements definition through realization to demo and product delivery.
• Engage in regular exchanges with the Sea/Air Logistics Team to identify the best technical and functional solutions for new feature requests and improvements.
• Build easy, efficient, and enjoyable solutions for stakeholders, users, and internal customers.
• Analyze and fix system‑test and production errors in your area of expertise and gain experience with continuous online production systems.
• Participate in system maintenance, support of application roll‑outs, and operations as part of the development support team.

What We Would Like You to Bring

• Computer science or a similar qualification.
• Experience with development tools such as Eclipse/IntelliJ, Maven, Git and Jenkins.
• Strong expertise in Java and JUnit.
• Knowledge of Spring, JPA/Hibernate, and SQL technologies.
• Experience in frontend development and Angular is an advantage.
• Ability to find pragmatic and innovative solutions with maximum business value.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Problem‑solving skills, innovative and creative approach.
• Highly self‑motivated, directed, detail‑oriented, and result‑driven personality.
• High communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
