Senior Fullstack Engineer - Technical Lead Pathway | .NET, React, Azure

Summary

Senior fullstack engineer at PARts DB, a B2B automotive parts fitment-data platform in Sydney. Day to day: lead the most complex cross-system builds, own architectural calls, set the quality bar via reviews, CI/CD and incident RCA, and mentor juniors, using C#/.NET Core, React and Azure, with a defined pathway to Technical Lead.

About PARts DB

PARts DB builds the B2B fitment data and catalogue platform that sits underneath the automotive parts industry. When a workshop, retailer or distributor can tell you in seconds whether a part fits a given vehicle, that answer came from a platform like ours.

Our platform serves the global automotive aftermarket, backed by 25+ years of proprietary fitment data - one of the deepest data sets of its kind in the region – and back by one of the largest Automotive Aftermarket companies in the world.

That combination is unusual: the reach and stability of a large group, with the pace of a team small enough that your work is visible. Big projects, broader career - without getting lost in a big organisation.

Vehicle fitment is a genuinely hard data problem: high cardinality, messy real-world sources and unforgiving accuracy expectations. It is not CRUD.

The role - and why we have pitched it where we have

This is a Senior Developer role, reporting to the Head of Engineering. You will take on the most complex work in your stream, shape its technical design and lift the people around you.

Technical Lead isn't the starting position but is an open role and a true pathway. Show the leadership and performance, and the opportunity is yours to make - with clear readiness indicators, a development plan against them, and a manager who will tell you plainly what is still missing.

What you will be doing

  • Leading design and delivery of the most complex, highest-risk work in your stream - cross-system builds, migrations, performance and scale - and owning the architectural calls that go with it. Hands-on throughout.

  • Setting the quality bar through code review, engineering-led QA, automation, integration testing and CI/CD, and owning root cause analysis for significant production incidents.

  • Mentoring Developers, Juniors and Graduates through pairing and review coaching.

  • Working with Product Managers, stakeholders and vendors to turn technical trade-offs into decisions they can act on.

  • Setting the standard for AI-assisted development: high throughput with rigorous verification, and clear judgement about where the tools can be trusted.

What we are looking for - capability, not years

We assess what you can do and how fast you grow, not years of service. This capability often shows up around the five-year mark, but if you have it earlier, we want to hear from you.

  • Complex work already gets routed to you, and it comes back done.

  • You make design calls and can explain why.

  • You lift the people around you - review feedback that teaches, not just corrects.

  • You are comfortable with ambiguity: you shape the solution and own the outcome.

  • You communicate early, especially when something is going wrong.

  • You aspire to lead, and you are honest about the parts of that you have not done yet.

Your technical background

  • Strong C# / .NET Core backend depth, with solid React (Next.js an advantage).

  • Experience building and scaling web applications, APIs and services in a cloud-native SaaS environment.

  • Azure preferred; AWS or GCP considered if you can show you will pick Azure up quickly.

  • Database design across relational and non-relational stores, with a focus on performance and data integrity.

  • Secure development, CI/CD and DevOps practice you can embed in a team.

  • Expert and judicious use of AI development tools.

  • Agile Scrum fluency; experience with offshore teams is an advantage.

  • Degree in Computer Science, IT or Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

You will thrive here if you like to think, decide and own outcomes across the stack, rather than work through a defined queue of tickets.

How we actually work

We asked our engineers what they would tell a friend about working here. Four things came back:

  • Real variety. You work across technologies and parts of the business, building the breadth that gets you to the next level.

  • Trust over process. Light on micromanagement, heavy on outcomes, with room to try new ideas.

  • No blame culture. When something goes wrong, we work out why and make it better.

  • Approachable people who share what they know.

What we offer

  • A defined engineering pathway with plenty of growth opportunity.

  • A prime Sydney CBD office with genuine hybrid flexibility.

  • Modern engineering practice on a platform that is being actively modernised, not maintained.

  • Customers who depend on us getting the answer right.
