Senior Functional Analyst (IFRS 9)

Summary

Senior Functional Analyst leads IFRS 9 migration for a financial institution, analyzing processes, redesigning credit risk workflows, and guiding data/platform migrations with stakeholders.

We are looking for an experienced Functional Analyst with strong IFRS 9 expertise to support a large-scale IFRS 9 migration programme within a leading financial institution. The role involves analysing and redesigning processes, supporting the migration of IFRS 9 data and calculation platforms, and acting as a key contributor throughout the implementation lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead functional analysis activities within the IFRS 9 migration programme.
  • Analyse and document business requirements related to IFRS 9, credit risk and Expected Credit Loss (ECL) calculations.
  • Support the migration from legacy IFRS 9 platforms to a new target solution.
  • Perform data analysis and data mapping between source and target environments.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and support technical design activities.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, risk teams, finance teams and IT delivery teams.
  • Work closely with software vendors and external consulting partners involved in the IFRS 9 solution landscape.
  • Identify gaps, risks and dependencies within migration activities and recommend solutions.
  • Support testing activities, including functional testing, integration testing and data validation.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to less experienced analysts and project team members.
  • Contribute to project planning, governance and implementation activities.

Requirements

Required Experience

  • Minimum 10–15 years of experience as a Functional Analyst, Business Analyst or similar role within financial services.
  • Proven experience working on IFRS 9 implementations, migrations or enhancements.
  • Strong understanding of:
    • IFRS 9 regulations and reporting requirements
    • Expected Credit Loss (ECL) methodologies
    • Credit risk management processes
    • Banking data models and financial products
  • Experience with large-scale transformation or migration projects in banking.
  • Ability to work in complex stakeholder environments and drive requirements discussions.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead workshops and provide direction within multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with IFRS 9 calculation engines or vendor solutions used for ECL calculations.
  • Knowledge of regulatory reporting and risk management frameworks within banking.
  • Familiarity with data migration and data quality initiatives.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
  • Understanding of finance, accounting and risk domains within financial institutions.
