Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a technically strong Senior Fund Accountant with solid fund accounting fundamentals and hands-on NAV experience.

The successful candidate should understand the accounting logic underlying NAV calculations and be able to independently review, validate and, where necessary, reconstruct NAV calculations using Excel.

Strong professional judgment and accounting fundamentals are more important to us than familiarity with any particular fund accounting system.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review periodic NAV calculations for investment funds.

• Maintain fund accounting records, general ledgers and supporting schedules.

• Perform cash, bank, investment and position reconciliations.

• Prepare and review accruals, expenses and fund-level adjustments.

• Calculate and review management fees, performance fees and other fund charges.

• Maintain capital accounts and investor allocations.

• Account for subscriptions, redemptions, capital calls and distributions.

• Support investment valuation and related accounting entries.

• Prepare NAV packs and supporting schedules.

• Assist with financial statement preparation and annual audits.

• Investigate and resolve accounting, reconciliation and valuation discrepancies.

• Liaise with fund managers, auditors, banks and other service providers.

• Support the continued improvement of fund accounting processes and controls.

Candidate Profile

• Typically 4-6 years of relevant experience in fund accounting, fund administration or a related role.

• Strong hands-on fund accounting capability, with the ability to independently understand, validate and, where necessary, reconstruct NAV calculations using Excel.

• Strong understanding of accounting principles and NAV mechanics.

• Strong experience in general ledger, reconciliations, accruals, investment valuation, management and performance fee calculations and capital accounts.

• Strong Excel skills and the ability to build, review and maintain robust NAV calculation models and supporting schedules.

• Demonstrated ability to identify discrepancies, investigate breaks and resolve accounting or valuation issues independently.

• Experience with fund accounting systems is useful, while strong accounting fundamentals and professional judgment are considered essential.

• Comfortable engaging directly with clients and able to explain fund accounting or NAV-related matters clearly and professionally.

• A client-oriented mindset and interest in developing broader commercial responsibilities would be an advantage.

• Familiarity with automation, data analytics, AI tools or other emerging technologies would be an advantage.

• Professional accounting qualifications such as ACCA, CA or CPA would be an advantage but are not mandatory.
