Senior Fund Analyst - Financial Reporting
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Fund Analyst – Financial Reporting based in Canada.
This is a senior finance role responsible for overseeing fund accounting and financial reporting across multiple fund entities. You will manage the full accounting cycle while ensuring accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely delivery of financial information. The position combines technical accounting expertise with financial analysis, process improvement, and stakeholder management. You will work closely with internal teams, senior leadership, and external auditors to maintain strong financial controls and reporting standards. The role also offers opportunities to improve accounting processes through automation and data-driven solutions. You will contribute meaningful insights into fund performance, portfolio valuations, and financial trends. Accountabilities:
- Oversee the full fund accounting cycle, including daily accounting operations and the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Ensure financial reporting complies with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, internal policies, and control frameworks.
- Coordinate annual audits and collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide documentation, resolve questions, and ensure timely completion.
- Manage and review the reconciliation of cash, investment positions, transactional data, and other fund records, identifying and resolving discrepancies.
- Oversee the valuation of portfolio investments and ensure accurate calculation and reporting of Net Asset Values (NAV).
- Develop, maintain, and enhance accounting policies and procedures to improve operational efficiency, consistency, and financial controls.
- Provide analytical support for fund performance reporting, identifying important financial metrics, trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Prepare insightful financial analysis and reporting for senior management to support informed business and investment decisions.
- Lead and mentor fund accounting professionals, supporting knowledge sharing, professional development, and a culture of continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with finance, investment, operations, technology, and other stakeholders to resolve complex accounting and reporting matters.
- Support the development and implementation of automated solutions that streamline accounting processes, reconciliations, data management, and financial reporting.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen reporting quality, efficiency, and scalability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in fund accounting, preferably within asset management, financial services, or an alternative investments environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, including GAAP and IFRS.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, complex formulas, and financial analysis.
- Experience with financial software, reporting platforms, fund administration systems, and/or data analytics tools.
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements and financial data management.
- Strong understanding of investment products, portfolio accounting, and financial markets is preferred.
- Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance and/or professional credentials such as CPA or CFA are considered an asset.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to investigate discrepancies and resolve complex accounting issues independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and high-quality financial reporting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Competitive salary, with the role-level range indicated at CAD $110,000–$120,000.
- Overall published salary range of CAD $75,900–$141,900, with actual compensation determined by factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications.
