Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Geologist to provide technical leadership for district-scale exploration programmes targeting sediment-hosted copper and magmatic nickel systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating multidisciplinary geoscientific datasets, developing robust geological models, generating and prioritising exploration targets, and delivering technically sound exploration programmes from concept through drill testing. The role combines technical geoscientific leadership with disciplined operational execution, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of remote exploration programmes while working closely with technical specialists, contractors, government stakeholders and joint venture partners to achieve Discovery objectives.
Responsibilities:
Lead district-scale exploration programmes from concept generation through drill testing to support Discovery objectives.
Integrate geological, structural, geophysical and geochemical datasets to develop robust geological models and exploration targets.
Generate, evaluate and prioritise exploration targets using sound geoscientific interpretation and mineral systems thinking.
Develop exploration strategies, work programmes, budgets and schedules aligned with project objectives.
Plan, supervise and optimise drilling programmes, including target definition, logging, sampling and QA/QC.
Ensure the integrity, quality and governance of geological data, databases and exploration information.
Prepare and present high-quality technical reports, geological interpretations and presentations to technical and executive stakeholders.
Coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs from geology, geophysics, geochemistry and external consultants.
Manage exploration contractors, laboratories and service providers to ensure safe, efficient and cost-effective programme delivery.
Monitor exploration budgets, forecasts and project performance to achieve technical and commercial objectives.
Identify, assess and mitigate technical, operational and project risks throughout the exploration lifecycle.
Build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders, government authorities, joint venture partners and local communities.
Promote safe, environmentally responsible and compliant exploration practices in line with company standards.
Mentor and develop Project Geologists and Discovery Geologists while fostering a collaborative, high-performing technical team.
