Senior Geoscientist, Conventional Assets
Description
The role has two primary areas of responsibility: leading the geologic and geophysical evaluation of potential acquisitions and developing plans to maximize the value of existing assets. The geographic focus will be Texas and Oklahoma, with a strong preference for candidates experienced in conventional oil and gas projects in these regions.
This is a hands-on technical role for an experienced geoscientist who brings sound subsurface judgment, strong analytical capabilities, and a collaborative approach to evaluating opportunities and advancing development projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Lead geologic and geophysical evaluations of acquisition opportunities, including data room reviews, independent assessments of development potential, and identification of key subsurface risks.
- Identify and evaluate conventional oil and gas development opportunities within existing company assets and adjacent acreage through 3D seismic interpretation, well log analysis, and regional geologic studies.
- Create and maintain structure, net pay, and reservoir maps using seismic interpretations, well logs, and updated well data.
- Evaluate reservoir quality, trapping mechanisms, seals, hydrocarbon migration, and other geologic conditions necessary for commercially viable oil and gas accumulations.
- Estimate hydrocarbon volumes and assess reserves and project economics, clearly communicating technical assumptions, risks, and uncertainty.
- Interpret and integrate well log, core, seismic, and well test data to develop and refine reservoir models.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineering to identify and select optimal development well locations.
- Work closely with operations personnel to plan and implement development projects.
- Update reservoir interpretations and maps as new drilling results, well data, and 3D seismic information become available.
- Utilize Kingdom Geoscience Software on a daily basis for seismic interpretation, mapping, and subsurface evaluations.
- Present technical findings, development recommendations, and acquisition assessments to company leadership to support informed investment and operational decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Geology, Geophysics, Geophysical Engineering, or a related discipline required; master's degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with an active exploration and production company developing domestic onshore oil and gas assets.
- Demonstrated experience with structural and stratigraphic interpretation of 3D seismic data for exploration and development projects.
- Strong preference for recent experience evaluating and developing conventional oil and gas reservoirs in Texas and Oklahoma.
- Proficiency in seismic interpretation, well log analysis, geologic mapping, reservoir characterization, and prospect evaluation.
- Experience using Kingdom Geoscience Software.
- Ability to integrate geologic, geophysical, engineering, and economic considerations into practical development recommendations.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, attention to detail, a collaborative working style, a strong work ethic, and a passion for petroleum geoscience.
