Senior Graphic and Brand Designer
Summary
Rootly, an incident management platform, is hiring its first dedicated brand designer in Toronto to own the brand system end to end — logo, type, colour, iconography, illustration — and ship marketing, in-app, social, and event assets in Figma alongside product design and marketing teams.
About Rootly
About the Role
What You’ll Do
- Own the brand system end to end, including logo, type, colour, iconography, and illustration, plus the guidelines that keep it consistent as more people touch it.
- Design for the product, not just around it, creating in-app graphics, empty states, and onboarding illustrations that feel like the same company as every marketing surface.
- Ship marketing assets that move deals and pipeline, from landing pages and ads to one-pagers, battlecards, decks, case studies, and campaign creative for launches and events.
- Design for social and content, building LinkedIn graphics, blog headers, video thumbnails, and templates the marketing team can use without you in the loop for every post.
- Build for scale, creating component libraries and templates in Figma so design work doesn't bottleneck on one person.
- Partner cross-functionally with product design, PMM, content, and our CEO and founders on how Rootly shows up in the market.
- Raise the bar, bringing craft and taste to a team that's moving fast, and knowing when good enough isn't good enough.
What We’re Looking For
- 5+ years of graphic design or brand design experience, ideally with time spent both in house and shipping fast at a startup.
- A portfolio that shows range across brand identity work, marketing collateral, and at least some exposure to product or UI surfaces.
- Strong fundamentals in typography, layout, colour, and systems thinking, not just individual assets.
- Fluency in Figma and the standard design toolkit, and comfort handing off clean, dev-ready files.
- Experience building or evolving a brand system, not just working inside one someone else built.
- A self-starter mentality. You'll be the first hire on this, so you need to be comfortable setting direction, not just executing a brief.
- B2B SaaS or developer-tool experience is a plus, and familiarity with incident management, DevOps, or SRE culture is a bigger plus.
Why Rootly?
- Competitive compensation and early equity in a fast-growing, venture-backed company.
- Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
- 3 weeks of vacation, plus unlimited sick and mental health days, and a company-wide end-of-year shutdown to recharge.
- $500 stipend for home office setup.
- Unlimited token usage and access to AI tools
- A fast-moving, high-impact environment where your leadership and ideas directly shape the future of the company.
